Has anyone had poker stars lock up on them? I hit 2 pair on the turn and clicked the button to raise. The button disappeared but it did not reflect my raise onscreen and I timed out and was "all in" (i.e. I couldn't bet anymore and a side pot was started). I only won $.16 and I should have won a good deal more considering there were still 2 other people in the hand.

Anyone ever have this happen to them? It happened once before, but fortunately the site woke up and registered my action before I ran out of time.

Sure it wasn't connectivity problems at your end rather than at Stars?

Seriously, Stars has very reliable (if a little slow) software, from my experience.

Yup - might be the dialup or wireless. I get relentless lag with my wireless network and I know it's not the sites' fault.

I'm pretty sure it wasn't my internet connection, the fact that the action buttons disappeared indicates that the site recognized my click, it just didn't update the table. I have high speed cable internet and haven't had any other problems with it. Also I've played on PS for over a year with the same internet and haven't seen this problem until the last couple of weeks, although admittedly I've played a lot more in the last couple of weeks than anytime before now.

Oh well, not a huge deal considering the small stakes, it just ticks me off as a matter of principle. I'm gonna email PS once I get a hold of the hand history and see what they say.

Hmm, I do have wireless so I guess that could be it, but I still can't get over the fact that the buttons disappeared! I think PS owes me at least $.19! :D

I have been expereincing abnormal connectivity problems lately as well. It has seemed to be concentrated at Stars, but I was multi-tabling with 3 different sites and I lost connection at all 3, so it was obvious that it was my end. One particular time that stands out I had the A high flush with $7,000 pot and I lost connection. It was obvious I had the best hand and when my connection came back I couldn't find results of the hand and my stack was crippled.

It is most certainly an issue with connectivity between you and pokerstars. And, I would guess that it was on your side. When you "click the button" the software on your computer reacts and sends a message to the server. However, if the server doesn't respond it doesn't know what to think, there for you get the severed connection. The reason I think it's on your side is PS's server would most likely have become unresponsive and you'd have gotten disconnected prior to this (unless it was just freak timing).

I would agree with the connectivity diagnosis. The only issues I have had with Poker Stars have been because of my wireless dropping, which resulted in situations similar to yours. Cable CAN spike every once in a while; it's not just a wireless issue. One other note: Poker Stars handles this 1000x better than Full Tilt, which I'm stuck using now to get the 100% deposit bonus back. If I drop a hand on Full Tilt, I'm out for at least 60-90 seconds and guaranteed to lose the hand. At least at PS, I've got a chance to reconnect...

Spore - good point, I hadn't thought about the difference between the action registering on the program on my computer versus being uploaded to PokerStars.

I think you all have me convinced the issue was with my network now. Fortunately this hasn't happened since.

Well, for the first time it happened to me last night about 4 times during a tourney - causing me to loose focus and my edge. This was merely a $3 tourney but one where I was getting cards!!! Ex - 62 in bb with no raisers bb150. Flop 622!

I did a network check and my local wireless net showed 100% connectivity. I then looked at how I was connecting to pokerstars and it showed like 4-5 dif networks: MIT 80%, Yahoo 60%, xzy 100%, thisorthatnet 100%, pokerstars 0%!

So it wasn't my network.

I've played on PS for about 3 years and sometimes I have connection problems but never having it lock up completely like that. The only thing I can think of is if it keeps doing that do the good old unistall reinstall thing in hopes of getting all the demons out of it.

pacific poker is mental for this problem. I was all-in with two pairs on the board. It flips the turn and Im logged out and it 'searches for the best connection' for 2-3 mins. Made me dead sad that did!
