I signed in to poker stars and there was a notification saying if you live in the US then you can't play for real money. I clicked ok to say I had read it then tried to join a few different games but it said I couldn't play real money games cause of the region I am in... I live in Canada!!! And it says that on my account status... Did I miss something? Has anyone else experienced this and/or know what I should do???
Totally surprised me.
Thanks for any help you can offer.
I live in Canada too but have never experienced this issue. The PS software/servers should automatically determine and confirm your location through your unique IP address. Is your internet connection direct or are you connecting through a VPN service? For example, some people would use a VPN service to connect to services such as Netflix in order to bypass Netflix's regional restriction of movies/TV shows.
If you are not using a VPN service, then I would suggest to reboot your router and modem and re-attempt to play on PS. If that doesn't solve your issue, then try playing on PS from a different location (i.e. friend's home etc.) preferably first using your own (hopefully mobile) device and if the problem still exists then use a different device from that second location. Hopefully through the process of trial and error you will be able to sort it out. Good luck.
