Im just getting started into poker, but i cannot decide which poker website i should use. Im currently using PKR, but the whole animated thing just distracts me and id rather something that just looks basic so i can concentrate on the game.

Any recommendations?

Assuming you're not in the US, I'd go with pokerstars. No reason not to play there, really. Biggest, best site out there. For US players choices are limited, but of those available, I'd recommed one of the bigger Merge sites (Carbon,BCP, Hero).

Any major site or network will probably be fine. Many clients let you turn off animations.

If your playing uSNL I'd advise against pokerstars. The bronze and silver vip levels rate of rakeback is a joke. Go on to 2+2 and get yourself a 60% rakeback deal from their rake back affiliates.

Rakeback is much more important to a uSNL player. Your playing a lot more rake proportionally than higher stakes. Also smaller sites lack of traffic are as much of an issue at uSNL games as they're the most heavily populated games.

If your a SSNL or MSNL player I'd advise party or pokerstars, perhaps still a 60% deal if you don't use many tables, are willing to multisite or play part-time.

Bovada hands down. You get a 100% signup bonus and you can easily roll it over on sportsbook (3x) so its all yours. Also you get 1 free withdrawl (fedex check) a month which I cant find free withdrawls hardly anywhere. Im not a fulltime poker player so I like the option to bet on sports which I do a ton of. Referal bonus gives you $100 for each person that signs up (that dep 100). So I love it.

Yes, Bovada has great offers for the new players and I like their clients' design.

From the rooms I also play at I can recommend to try intertops and BlackChipPoker. These two also have good bonuses for new registrations and are reputable.

I personally like carbon poker. They have a lot of freerolls and bonuses including a private freeroll for cardschat members! The live support is good and they give a lot of bonuses out

Intertops has a lot of promotions not available network wide. Every other week they have two $500 free rolls and a good guarantee tournament. they come up with other goodies on a regular basis. Drawback? the crappy cake network and $50 withdrawal for a check fee

I would actually try checking out a few sites at once. Play the freerolls get used to the software and then decide which one you want to deposit on. A few to check out: carbon, lock, and sportsbook

I play on Bovada mainly but also play on Intertops and Carbon. I have accounts on Play Aces and Lock but don't really play at all on those lately.

West European Players

O,kay, so I am fairly new to online poker. I have a basic grasp of strategy and the math involved (outs, ratios, pot odds, e.t.c.) Wanted to get a lot of practice in before diving in over my head so to speak.
Tried Zynga.....(decided can NOT learn anything there)
Pokerlistings.com (Fun, but not real people, and even though I am usually last one standing in heads up, realize it means nothing)
Pokerstars.net...more like it, real people, takes a little more skill, but I also notice that many players seem to simply go all in on air and hope for the besty. What ticks me off is that it usually works! Might as well play bingo. Might be coincidence, but appears that most are from Western Europe, but not exclusively, have seen some from South America e.t.c.
have never had my game evaluated, but it seems as if I am seeing flop about 75% of the time from SB or BB, and take pot about 60% of the time at showdown.
