New update for pokerstars. Introduced the PokerSchool. Will have 4 freerolls daily, enter according to score. 60% to 70% needed on quizs. Freerolls start June 15. Has some simple and interesting information. Only read the Basic and Core. Get a ticket to freeroll after Core quiz.

DIdn't see this yet-thanks for the heads up. No doubt they're competing with FT Academy...we benefit from both.

I saw the school, more freerolls are always nice.

A question for pokerstars players, am i able to clear more than one bonus at a time, and if not can I switch which bonus i am working towards clearing?

I think I am going to try this Poker School at PokerStars! Do they offer any no deposit bonuses there?

Sounds interesting ... I'll need to look this up... I think it is about time that PokerStars does something to better compete with FullTilt .

I'll bet that PS has of late been losing market share to FT and others. Anyone know for sure?

I do not think PS has been suffering in any way.

Thanks for the information on the PS School, I will definitely check this out.

They should up the requirement to 90%, so the games would be worth playing (imo).

?For anyone that needs to know. Once you update the PS software there will be a new menu item at the top of the software called Poker School. Once you go there you will pick a password for the school and then you can begin reading the lesson materials and take the Basic and Core tests. Passing the Core gets you a ticket that will allow you to initially play in the 4 a day free rolls that start June 15th and eventually become a part of the league that will start on July 1st.

I'm going to check this out a bit later tonight.. looks interesting.

EDIT:

Going through it now. Just finished the basic quiz.. there is no reason why anyone here shouldn't get 100% on it, lol. It's just a introduction to poker, and pretty much the quiz is the same thing... reading the Core Course now.

Up at the very top between "View" and "Help".. there is "Poker School"

Just passed the Core Quiz thing.. it said I should be getting a member ticket in my e-mail within 72 hours.

The quizzes are very easy.. I'm going to check out the SnG quiz, now.

I have an account at PS but have never deposited. I will search myself, but does anyone offhand know if you have to be a depositing player for this, or is an as yet non-deposit account also eligible?

And if sly is too old and too bad to go to school anymore, then I dont stand a chance.......

Yeah, I've played multiple sessions today (and shut down the PS client in between sessions). Still not there.

Not a huge deal, more curiosity, if I get super interested I'll email support.

You don't have to have deposited to take part in this. I have never deposited, too.. and I have been able to take part in this.

I am not sure I am loving their BRM advice......

if you have $100 in your PokerStars account, you should buy-in for no more than $10 at a cash table. Tournaments with a buy-in of more than $10 should also be avoided.

I am thinking $4-5 is the most I want to bring to a tourney if I only have $100 in the account.

I signed on last night and took exam for both basic and core ... passed both and got email confirmation about automatic entry access to tourneys.

I think these are great tutorials and yields insightfulness on a variety of things I was beginning to take for granted. I plan on taking some of the lessons to refresh my old brain cells from time to time. Good addition to your tool box, I think.
