So there is a new casino/poker room opening soon near me(Feb 1st), del Lago casino in upstate NY, I'm usually only an online player and only have played tournaments live but never cash. I was wondering if the excitement of a new poker room might bring in a lot of fish or easy games. If anybody has any experience with this kind of situation any insight would help.

Thanks and good luck to all

Tioga Downs recently opened. It saw a number of players that play regularly at Turning Stone, Salamanca, Pocono Downs and other PA casinos return 'home' for the opening weeks. Also a number of locals that may have only played a few times in local home games or on vacation trips have shown up regularly to play. TD is regularly running a $1000NLH game on Fri & Sat nites that none of the closer competitors run.

So you'll get your mixture of amateur/tourist players plus the local 'sharks' showing up. If the new room is on Bravo, check that out often to see what kind of traffic you're getting.

Thanks for the response, I haven't been to Tioga yet. Do they run tournaments there or just cash? On Bravo it has been saying tournaments coming soon since they opened but I haven't heard anything else about them

They have their tournament schedule decided, they are just waiting on gaming commission approval before they advertise them. I know and have talked with a couple of the floor people and dealers.

I usually like to play live tournaments just for fun, its not profitable like online play, because u cant play more than one table like u do griding online, and the lucky count's more on live. Of course have somes grindes of live poker, but all of they advice which most of profitable poker comes from online
