So I have heard about this place ... [old link~tb] . It is a live poker room and is much closer than Vegas or AC for me, and was wondering if anyone as been to a place like this. They pay their rake to charity I guess. Would something like this be worth giving a go? Or should I just travel up to AC for a day or two? AC is like 6 hours from me, this place is like 45 mins from me. Does anyone go to any room like this and can tell me how there experience was?

I live in VA but I've never heard of this place til now. I'll have to check around to find out more but thanks for the info. I'll post if I get feedback from my friends about this place.

Yeah I just heard about them also....they have 2 places which seem to be partnered together...
I just found this http://www.victorypokerlounge.net/index.html

They have cash games starting at $1/$2 and up to $5/$10 I believe, and also seem to run tournaments.

Well I went tonight to victory poker lounge and played a rebuy tournament(first real money live game) $10-$15-$20..did not make it ITM.
While waiting for my friends to finish, my other friend who had also busted talked me into buying into the 1/2 cash game they run, and I left with 173$ profit after about an hour of play!

Nice going on the cash game! Would you recommend either the tournament or the cash game to others (e.g., good/poor structure, friendly atmosphere, etc)? I live too far away on the other side of VA so I won't frequent there but if I'm in the area by chance, I might be tempted to stop by if you think it's worthwhile to do so.

I have no real live experience to compare it too.
I thought it was a friendly atmosphere, though I chose not to open my mouth very often.
I am definitely going to go back, I liked the cash game but that's where I won money so it probably had an influence on my decision.

I heard there are 5 different poker rooms in Portsmouth.

it is a good place to go

yes this is a good place to play, and it is a shorter drive here that to AC! I play there at least one time per week i have my ups and downs but i am a winning player and usually leave with 200-1200 profit depending on the day hope to see you there.........and there are 5 places total now in the area that you can play at but i only play at 2 of them.
