Hi guys! As some might know I've been inactive the past week. I am currently sat in a cyber cafe in Dublin center where I have been playing many different tourny's for the past week at the Fitzwilliam Casino testing things out:

First of all was a 270€ Freezeout. The biggest tournament last thursday, the day I arrived in Dublin. After getting lost going to accommadation I was rather tired by the time I got to the casino, but entered never the less...

Well I was doing quite well... 130 started and it was down to the last half. Picked up KK in early position.. called at an aggressive table. A tight guy on the table raised half his stack. I went all in over the top. He called after 5 minutes with JJ. Guess what was middle card on the flop ;) Ah well.

So not too good that tourny.

Since then I entered a 60€ Rebuy (SCALP) tourny where you could have ONE rebuy OR topup in the first hour and whenevr you knocked someone out you got 10€. I came 12th when the top 10 got paid! Damn.

So then I was in a freeroll with rebuys where top 6 got free entries to a 110€ Tourny. I came 10th!!!! Damn again!

Yesterday I entered a 30€ Freezeout. About 40 in, top 6 paid, came 7th!!!!

So not doing so well at the moment. Bank roll much down on this expensive holiday and I am a little disappointed with what's been going on. Suffered the normal bad beats and i haven't managed to recover.

Tonight I am entering the 110€ Freezeout, and I'm also afterwards going to sit down at a 50€ pot limit hold em cash game with €100 (blinds 1 and 2)... I decided to try something different.

I'll let you know how it all goes. Wish me luck though!

I must admit, I am surprised by the quality of play seen in all of these tournaments, as its rather poor and I'm disappointed for not doing better. You have the manicas who raise raise raise, the tight players who fold fold fold, and the jackals who call call call.

Unfortunately you find 3 of each on one table so its hard to master beating them all at the same time :( For me anyway!

Just to let you know, watched a pot at the fitz last night between Colette Doughety (pro) and some random guy who sad down at a 100€ cash omaha table with €10,000 when average was about €1000. In fact Colette didn't have many more when she raised to €100 pre flop called by 2 people, one being the aggressive guy:

The flop was Kh 8s 5c. Colette Goes all in. The mad man takes a stack of 2000€ And bangs it in the middle, putting the other guy all in as well!!!......

The turn was a 9s and the river was 8h.

They turn over. The mad man had 67, meaning he went 2000€ in with OPEN ENDED straight. He got it on the turn though.

Collete turns over her KK though. The RIVER gave her the full boat and OUCH! His straight loses to the pro's full boat!

The whole casino was watching the hand. Unbelievable.

:)

Sounds like your having some fun...and burning up a little of your roll, too. Are you getting too tight when you get near the money trying to keep from going out on the bubble? Seems just from your short synopsises of the events that you're going out on or just before the bubble in most events, usually a sign that you're playing too conservatively in order to cash. Not sure, just an outside observation. Anyway, good luck at the Omaha table and your final tournament.

Well early on I build up a nice chip stack, but then I had a bad beat in a few tournies which led me to a much lower stack. Once it came to this I sat and played tight waiting for hands to improve my stack on but they never came so yes I started playing too conservatively and by the time I had a chance to double up it was worthless anyway :/

Last night in the 50 euro hold em cash game i sat down at an aggressive table with 140 euro. I sat tight folding everyhand but premiums.. and after 3 hours of play, and only 4 hands, i left the table with 300 euro. That was my first live cash game ever.

I'm considering doing the same tonight after another 110 euro tourny!"

Wish me luck :) Last night!

Well, I was out of the 110 tourny in 3 hands.

third hand picked up QQ.. raised 4 times big blind. called by aggressive player. Flop was 89J.. the guy goes all in. I call, he has JJ in his hand... VERY PISSED :(

So went to the cash game, was sititn there for hours doin alrite.. then got AA.. pushed as HARD as i could... eventually all in (pot limit so re raised first) and the other guy has KQ... KK7 on the flop. Lost 200 Euro in one hand!

Gutted.. and now thinking, what future of poker for me after such a bad run? :(

I'm going to remember this post next time i lose 20 dollars on bad beat! It must double suck to actually see the chips being moved across the table in real life.

When all 200 euroes went across the table to the guy showing KQ against my AA, I walked straight out of the casino. Its not a MAJOR loss that puts me in trouble which is good, as I wouldnt bet what I dont have.. BUT, I did think I was a good enough poker player for tourny/cash games changing my play to match both..

Just wonder if i'm good enough for either now :(

A much needed wakeup call that holiday was I think..

I think its just unlucky MK.Nothing seriously wrong with the plays as i think you were ahead and got outdrawn. We all get runs like this when you can't catch a cold let alone a card, thats why we have bankrolls to cover the bad times!Best advice i had on a barren run like that was to take a few days off,get drunk and forget about poker til i was ready to play again.Analyse the hands that crippled you and see if you'd have played them differently given the time again,if you spot any mistakes then you can change it the next time and if not just blame the pokergods mate!

In heindseit (spelling?) If i was back in those positions now I would not have changed ANY play! In fact It could be said I was too aggressive with my hands by pushing in early on, and maybe slow playing it would leave me options to fold, but then would you slow play AA and fold to a big bet from KK7 flop?

This has jolted my learning and as I lost a lot over the week, its rather confusing as to if all this learning/reading/playing etc is going to pay off.. or if I'm just another wannabe in the midst of millions of others!

Sad day :(
