Thought I would pass this along to all of you so that you are aware of this problem. As the email below states, the actual site/client has not been hacked, but when going to their homepage you are re-routed to the false site. See below:

The following is an email sent to you by an administrator of "PokerHost
Forums". If this message is spam, contains abusive or other comments
you find offensive please contact the webmaster of the board at the
following address:

[dead email ~tb]

Include this full email (particularly the headers).

Message sent to you follows:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
OK, just so you all know. When you try and access the PokerHost
homepage, you are being redirected to a third party website, not really
PokerHost. This is an attempt by hackers to gain your personal information. I
cant stress this enough, its not the FBI and NEVER, EVER GIVE OUT YOUR
INFO!!!!!!! The actual site nor client were actually hacked, but rather
the DNS was basically stolen. All of your information and money are
safe! Unfortunately, these things take time to sort out, so have some
patience and we will get through this.
"Dear Client: we are experiencing unusual activity on our poker client, in order to continue providing you good service we need to confirm your data."
"Poker Host has been caught taking illegal wagers for United States citizens residing in jurisdictions with laws prohibiting such activities. As well as these suspicious gambling activities, other charges include tax evasion and racketeering. Your data, including phone number, address and IP location, has been sent to the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) to check if gambling is legal in your jurisdiction.
If you think you have been a victim of fraud or identity theft by PokerHost please contact your local chapter of the FBI."
lool "Good service"
....these "hackers" should have made it past high school instead of trying a dumbass stunt like this. I'm surprised they spell "racketeering" right. lol
I think the simple question would be: Why don't they just take it down?
I got the email too. I don't log on to pokerhost that often so I'm not too worried. Pokerhost is only worht playing for the freerolls, nothing else! Do not deposit in this site if you think you're going to withdrawl any money from here. I got about $21 in there which is all freeroll winnings. Maybe I'll try the wsop qualifier freerolls. Thanks for the heads up JuiceeQ!
I just got this email:
Dear Poker player ;
[FONT=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]This is an informative e-mail from PokerHost.
Due to the recent attack to PokerHost.com, we recommend that any user that provided account information change their account password as soon as possible. Even though this was just a futile attempt to supposedly %u201Charvest%u201D personal information, we want to take all possible measures to assure that such information continues to be used appropriately and is protected
Once again we strongly urge you to avoid disclosing any of your personal information and to report any unusual request to PokerHost customer service immediately.
I am an affiliate of pokerhost and here is the latest information I received from them regarding the "hack" - of course this doesn't help any of us affiliates as none of the affiliate links are working either.
But in any case .... Here is the latest from them -
Dear Clients, Readers and Followers:
We would like to give everyone the official version of what happened with our web site,
On Tuesday, June 8, 2006 at 4:18 CST a breach of security occurred at a REGISTRAR level. The account where this URL is registered, handling all DNS, contact, and such, information was tampered with and changed without the consent of the LEGAL owners of the account, and of course URL. It was at that time re-directed to an free hosting service located in Florida, USA. The page that you currently see is nothing but a regular html file that simulates a pop-up page, by looking closely to the code of the page we could see that in reality is a regular page with a picture background of our front page.
What we have been able to determine at this time from the registrar is that they are undergoing a thorough investigation to give back FULL CONTROL of the Poker Host name and URL. We expect a final resolution of this incident within the next hours. We hope to have this issue remedied and FULLY amended. We will pursue the person, people or any associates involved in this matter to the fullest extent of the law.
Infringement on the rights of the legal owners of web sites and/or any users, visitors, clients and organizations affected by these flagrant disregards of private, intellectual and/or physical property should be brought to justice; regardless of the origin of the business that is operated by the owners of any URL(s).
As you have been able to see, on all these forums and posting sites, the current look and information of the site are completely fraudulent in nature. In essence, Poker Host’s web site has been hacked and hijacked. As you can see, there is form placed on the URL, which supposedly “harvests” any one persons information and supposedly sends to the FBI. This is totally false!
WE URGE ANY USERS AND/OR VISITORS TO NOT FILL ANY INFORMATION OUT SINCE WE HAVE NO GUARANTEE OF WHAT THIS INFORMATION MAY BE USED FOR!!
We hope this sheds some light on the problem at hand. We hope to be able to continue with our normal operations once these matters have been resolved. We are currently working on bringing up a backup site where you can find the REAL Poker Host web site. Fell free to contact us or send us an e-mail at any of our usual account names and just change the ending for .ws. I.E. support@pokerhost.ws.
Our kindest regards,
Poker Host Management Staff
