I dont know what youll think of this post but this is how i recently feel, and its a great feeling.
Many people complain about a few donks and bad beats that they have encountered. Most good players should still be up despite this, due to playing all their other hands well.

My new strategy is simple and so obvious. Just wait. I have recently discovered patience, and to make money online from these 'donks' or 'morons' this is pretty much ALL you need.

Because these idiots are so crap and will play and raise with anything, then it obviously makes sense to let them raise like idiots when you have the best hand.

I play at NL tables normally $0.25 / $0.50 and the quality of play is quite a narrow spectrum. It mainly consists of 25% donks, 50% average players and 20% good players. Most players will keep caling you with second pair etc so if you wait for top pair, you are ok. Try not to persue flush and straight draws unless they are free or very cheap. Also make sure the pot is worth it. A tiny pot wont help you, so dont gamble more than you should.

For advanced beginners myself, and those with patience and time, accumulating money from these other donks shouldnt be too hard. Dont worry if you go down a bit while waiting for the hands, many times i have gone down a few dollars over a long preiod of time and then capitalised in one hand and boosted my chips significantly. One xample from my experience, from $50 i went down to $30 then in one hand, i went up to $100 and then to $120 the hand after.

Ive learnt that if i feel any doubt or think i have the second best hand i will fold. Second best hand is the most dangerous to your bankroll so follow your gut if you need to. Ive also learnt to not go in PreFlop as it is simply a gamble, and you dont need to gamble when you know how play properly without risking your chips. I only call with AA KK QQ or AKs.

Just my thoughts anyway, any other input is welcome :)

As for putting in chips before the flop, i guess it depends on how many players have gone in before me. If someone with a low stack shoves in, then maybe I call, or if it looks like the guy in on tilt ill call with kj or kq or a10 just to try and catch it. It all depends. Sometimes i like to steal preflop with a huge allin over raise with ace weak-usually your 50/50 so if you want to gamble why not

my best advice is to never worry about the $$$$$$$$$ and just have fun.

poker is supposed to be boring. it is not a fun game at all, it is only fun if you wina big pot. otherwise you sit, going all in preflop at a cash game to steal blinds normally just breaks you if noone calls the rake should wreck up your profit making this a donk play. and in no way is a weak ace a sugnificant favorite against one hand and if there are two hands in the pot you are likely the underdog to one. at best you are 3/2(a gamble) and woodsy isn't talking about gambleing he's talking about making money.

If you just want to make money and not have fun, get a job!!

You'll make far more, more reliably, and you'll probably be doing something useful.

Sorry Wood I'm sure you're a lovely person but I can't stand it when people play 6 tables and only ever play AA, KK, or AK suited! That's not at all what poker's about. It's a game so should be entertainment. OK you get poker pros in the same way as you get tennis pros or football pros, but unless you're in that league (and if you're playing $0.25 / 0.50 tables, you're not), just have fun - there are far better ways to make money. :)

lol nice post here's a nicer one THIS IS MY JOB.

that said you are here to make money. yes even you will play to make money or get out, know one is dumb enuff to play a game with rarely any highs at a loss(that is moronic). if you want to have fun turn off your computer and play the homegame. kk now that i've covered the guy who thinks he has the big picture let me say that you won't make money against good players only playing helmuth's(top ten hands for all you know it alls who infact don't). mix it up every once in a while, but in no way should anyone forget that poker is a grind and to be good at it and make money at it YOUR ASS WILL BE LEATHER

I am entertained as i play, playing the game and taking money off other people is kindof fun to me. You say playing at 0.25/0.50 limits is fun, well for those with a smaller budget e.g. myself it is a way to make money. I play NL so making money can be easy if you wait for the right hands, and i play againsy idiots and simpletons who are there to have fun, not necessarily to make money. If playing against those who are playing for fun, then it can be easy as they are not bothered about losing their money

Well glad to hear you're entertained - unlike our friend poettic ("poker is supposed to be boring. it is not a fun game at all"). But being there to have fun doesn't make someone an idiot or simpleton... in fact most people playing are probably pretty intelligent. (If they have money to throw around, even more so.)
Take a look at your long-term hourly win rate and I'd bet that you could earn more than three times as much doing your neighbours' gardening or working in a shop, let alone any kind of skilled occupation. Think about that and your apparent belief that you're way more intelligent and superior to everyone else doesn't really hold up.

man don't quote me quote doyle brunson( i beleive ss2 but couuld have been an interview) and phil ivy card player magazine(no idea what issue).

thing is math games aren't fun they can't be, good players who know odds can't have fun playing poker . people who don't care about the odds can have a blast. but in truth the nitty grid behind the game is 6-10 smug bastards content with thinking they are all math gods insulting eachother. playing a mtt is about as apealing as finishing a game of monopoly. if poker was fun the video games would be rated higher and actually sale, people would play for free. no no poker is not fun the draw of winning is tho, i personally know taking down a pot is about as much fun as the first hill of a roller coaster, but the 650 hands it took me to get there i had to check my pulse(exagerated slightly).

and while i could make more else where.. that's work. i have a desk job where the more i know the less i have to play. i play 20 hours a week and make 1k+ a month i am 21 years of age and sit on my ass for 4 hours a day pay all my bills. the YOUNG AMERICAN DREAM. i have 5k in bank if something goes bad. my bills are low but, if i played like you i'd have to get a job it would cut too much in my profit margins. don't get me wrong when i'm done with school i'll force myself to decide between my degree, and upping my ante(project 10k a month).

so if you wanna play poker do it fine loose a couple dollars laugh your 50 dollar buyin to my bank. but we are all here because we like money and understand the skill involve, right? if not sit at my table and donate plz.
