When that's not a novelty, but I fell happen just over the article when I saw a 50M Gtd. Tour of Stars (turned out to be play money: P)

But why would you invest crisp dollars in play money? :/

Edit: Well, I knew not link to the article? But you can see "buy play money" inside the play money tournament: S

I have also wondered why there are people who buy with real money, fictisio money since I do not find any profit or gain that may have, but I think it's more of a luxury than those with a high bank of dollars are given.

If you can buy a bunch of play money chips and play against super soft competition and resell you could profit pretty easy.

Really lol I didn't know you could buy play money chips. Like why would anyone use real cash for play money and try to resell chips why not just use the real money to make real money lol. I could understand why you would do it on zyna facebook poker because they have no real money play option.

Play money purchases mean u have a little bit of a poker addiction I guess. If ur gonna spend the money, might as well play for real.

Why would anyone do that?! It's not like you'll become a better player by playing with Play Money. I'm sort of a veteran FreeRoll-player, and from my experience I know that after about 30 mins the players start to play more and more serious. But with Play Money....I don't know, I just can't take it serious and I doubt someone else above the age of 12 can.

I don't think the time you put in is worth the money you might get.

I suppose it's not much different than paying a membership to play online games at Pogo or at WorldWinner but maybe it's the only option for those of us USA players who seriously miss PS :)

I think it's because a lot of players don't play for real money period. I know a lot of players that just play for fun, and are not interested in real money. I believe on poker stars you have to wait a certain amount of time between reloading play chips when you bust. Many sites have this, and also you can only get so many chips at a time, so the die hard play chip players see the option to buy large amounts of play chips as a way to avoid the waiting periods if they lose all their "free" chips from the site.

I think there are a lot more people out there that don't care about the money aspect online and think its good practice or play because of the enjoyment and love of the game. There are a lot of home games there too that pay out prizes. I have been on Stars more lately than I have been in the past post black Friday.

There are more players who play for fun than play for profit. But even the funsters realize that at the lower levels of play money poker, there is no rhyme or reason.

For those of us that have waded thru the muck, and emerged with play money bankrolls capable of playing the highest levels of play money games, we realize that the poker at those highest levels is just about the same as any real money scenarios. With no real risk.

Real money only players will say BS! (loudly). They want your real money. And they usually get it. They will tell you there is nothing to be gained from Play Money Poker. Again, they don't think playing for the enjoyment of the game has any value. That is like saying that watching a movie on TV is useless. Just pay your bucks and go to a theater.

There are a few situations about poker that play money games can not prepare anyone for. These are all centered on the scared money aspects of the game. Funny thing tho, that scared money thing is something that should never be learned. And it is a learned reaction. Anytime you are playing any hand of poker you need to be fearless. Not stupid, but fearless. You still need to know the odds, and when to ignore them.

But you need to be having fun, win or lose. Many folks don't want to invest real money, they just want to be playing the game.

Hi :) the main reason I think people buy play money on stars is because its more fun playing high stake poker with some of the best on stars and its less money to lose so for a few bucks you get x-thousand of play dollars not everyone like to gamble real money. and yeah your right I too have played several poker pro's on play money tables including monymaker and katchalov :)
