Party poker CND account - get raked twice

I have been looking into depositing with party poker in Canadian dollars and think everyone should be made aware that this is NOT a good idea.

If you have an account in $CND, every time you enter a $USD game and cash out again, 6% of your money will be taken from you in the form of currency conversion bid/ask spread.

You don't even have to play a hand, you will lose 6%

I entered a fast forward game, started with $2 US and played 20+ hands and left the table with $2. I checked my balance and it was the same, I didn't lose anything.

Yes, leave the table, as I confirmed with partypoker customer support.

How much in CND did you have to convert? This is only for people with $CND accounts

Can we see some screenshots? Don't believe this at all,,, (and yes,Moots is Can)

Convert account to USD

So I have been in touch with party poker customer support about this and they have been very helpful, so all credit to them.

They are happy to convert my account from CND to USD which is excellent, only one time conversion cost which is minimum you can expect.

Just to reiterate, do not have your account set up as CND, you will get 6% extra rake every game. Set up as USD, or get them to change it if you are currently already have a CND account. They are willing to do this and I am very pleased with the resolution of this from party poker.:rock::rock:

Great advice Red! :five: I'll keep my account just the way it is tho,,as i never deposit or play cash games and i love playing in U.S. $$ but all my withdrawls are sent to my bank in Can. funds,,,, :icon_flow (aint broke,dont fix)

Yes, the solution here is to simply purchase USD with CAD, do the gaming transactions with USD, and then when withdrawing USD convert to CAD.

However, the exchange rate offered by most major sites is significantly below market

I think you are not reading my post correctly. You do not even say if your account is in $CND or $USD. Is your party poker account in $CND or $USD? If it's in $CND you are paying %6 rake extra every time you play a $USD game. Proof attached.

I want to also stress that I am extremely happy with Poker Party customer support, they solved the problem with no argument and very quickly. I will be depositing with them for sure.

I suspect Terry's account (as mine) is in USD.

The last time I withdrew from Party, I noticed that the exchange was fee-free. The rate for USD to CAD was exactly the same as CAD to USD. This occurred over a year and a half ago, so policies may have changed, but I was astonished at the time.

Note: I have not yet read your letters from Party Support - I'm afraid of flashbacks from my PP CS PTSD.
