Hi all.....I play on the merge network on sportsbook.com. I don't intend to play any of the poker maximus events at this point as I am trying to 0 to hero my bankroll so I can play low stakes STT's. As a player on the network I am deeply concerned about all of the overlays that I see in some of these events. If something looks too good to be true, it usually is! ! How concerned should players be about the solvency of the network that they play on when they have to be losing money with all of these overlays??? It just doesn't make sense to me.

This ^. Satties have been having HUGE overlays but when it comes time for the main event I suspect they will get enough re-entries etc. to make the gtd and then some.

This issue has been ongoing since late last year. Solvency is an issue, but they apparently have it figured out...

Some of those overlays have been huge. Overlays on satties are not such a big problem, the entry to those is generally cheap, and most of the time they get close enough that the added fees cover.

Well a few of the PM satties, like the 1.10 rebuy to the 215 250k gtd satty, have had HUGE overlays of around 700-800 bucks but really when we look at the money the site generates in rake from Cash alone, that 700 is chump change. So no, don't sweat seeing chump change overlays. When you start seeing 100k overlay in a 250k mtt THEN you can worry lol.

Just played event #1 and #2. Both bust unfortunately but I just wanted to share that the blind structure is whack! SB=BB. 50/50 or 100/100 etc. Makes no sense.

well they certainly are giving the laggers plenty of time to join in these events the rebuy tours they have 1 hour late reg but on the freezeouts they are alowing 3 1/2 to 3 3/4 hours late reg. somewhat annoying if you ask me. and i mean what is the point of joining 3 //1/2 hours late. at that point the blinds are nearly at starting stack amount.

No. Just a few of the micros are Rebuys. And yeah trek I hate the 4 hrs late reg on the bigger events as well. And as you said, there really isnt a point to joining past about 2 hours. Ill be happy though if im sitting on a nice stack at 3 hrs and lots of fish keep joining with 7 bb's and dumping em to me lol.

I haven't done a PM yet but man I'm not waiting 6+ hours so I can make the cash and 9+ hours just to win the whole thing.

i see your point blobweird that indeed is a positive angle of the late reg going so long. and just to aleviate any concerns you have bsg34 none of the pm events yesterday ended up with overlays and infact all exceeded the gtd prize pool

Yea but all the ones with that long of late reg has sick gtd's. The 4 late regs will prolly last around 12 hrs and I'd be glad to do that for deep run money in any of those!

Can anyone confirm whether the non-rebuy PM tourneys are "re-entry", which is basically the same thing?

There was a software update a few days ago that said that all "freezeout" tournaments were now eligible for re-entry now on the merge network. I think that they were leary of some of the huge overlays developing.
I noticed in a $200+15 tourney that 1 player had re-entered twice, they were in it for $615 at that point which means that they had to finish like 7th or better just to break even...it was just a regular tournament not assoc. with PM.
Seems like a serious -EV play to re-enter with a starting stack a couple hours into a tournament, I guess that some people just have money to burn! Hope that they are not "house players" playing for the site, makes me wonder.

I have thought the same thing about the whole "house players" aspect. It's almost stupid to think they wouldn't have people on their payroll playing to keep funds from leaving. I mean, it seems almost impossible that they would get caught unless those players ratted out Carbon, which they wouldn't because most of the guys that work for them (at least on the support side) are from borderline third world countries who would honestly just appreciate the job no matter how unethical it was. I am speculating of course, but it just doesn't seem far fetched, however this personal oppinion of mine isn't 1/10th of the reason I don't play on Merge anymore. Even if I knew they had house players I still would be playing on there if they would pay out faster than 2-3 months. So PM overlays or not, count me out.
JFWIW, I would not deposit a dime there as of right now because people are talking and the network doesn't look like it can sustain for much longer.

Main events ARE re-entry. And BSG34 all they need is a little over in the bigger events and they make that up 10 fold

Re-entry is different from rebuying when you go busto. Re-enter and you pay the fee again! So 3 x 200+15 is 645 not 615.

I played in #51 PM 30k main event, last night I won $62.62. I think it was 94th place, something like that. What I didn't like about the tournament they had about 4 hours of late regs. I probably wouldn't have minded as much, but I got up early that day. I ended up getting knocked out with pocket Kings, to my, ace jack of hearts. I probably would've folded my ace jack, but I was tired,And when you get tired you make bad decisions.
