Read on the news that a lot of Poker and online gambling sites are being taken down. Was wondering if Lock Poker might be at risk of a shutdown because of this, as well as BetOnline and Bovada.

TBH any site that takes a bet from american players is at risk. Just don't keep large amount's of money online.

If they close down lock wouldn't they have to close down all of merge? Which with Poker Maximus just wrapping up there is a ton of money on that site right now. I see a huge influx of players there as of late.

Yeah, I would suspect that if one Merge site goes; they all go. As far as I know there isn't anything new that I've heard about though. So, for now, I think the standard warnings apply for US players.... Don't keep too big of a roll on any one site, and don't plan on having quick and easy access to any money that you do have on any site.

I thought USA Players could play real money poker anywhere a site accepts them.

The issue/problem/illegality is "only" in the withdrawal/deposit at the site via banking/financial institutions.

Am I wrong? Clarify.

Pretty much correct ... investigate UIGEA for further clarification ... many seem to think among other things its a poorly written law that leaves plenty of room for interpretation.

------------
Some individual states like Kentucky and Washington have more specific laws regarding online poker.

We all know that there are risks with poker sites that allow US funds. That being said, I wouldn't have much confidence in ANYTHING that comes from FOX (news??) Why don't you try to find some more credible sources for your information.
