Merge does not accept players from New York. Lock will on June 1 on their new network.

Bovada definitely doesn't accept NY players and I've heard horror stories about Cake & Onlinebetting withdrawal process. I'm looking for a site that accepts NY players as well.

Hey guys just signed up for this site to hopefully get some info. Was going to start a new thread but found this with search.

I too am in the US, and maybe worse yet, in NY.

I am not huge into poker but want to get back into it, used to play casually on pokerstars a couple times a month. But I am concerned with researching the various places about finding something that is actually "legit". Now I am not looking to put money in the account I need, it'll be play money, but I would like be be confident that it's safe and withdraw-able.

It looks like the best options for NY players is Lock (as of June 1) and BetOnline? Which is the better and more upstanding site and why?

I have heard BetOnline requires all sorts of personal ID to withdraw money, is this true? Is it common with any site? Not so sure I want to be sending utility bills to who knows who.

Thanks

Well, Bovada technically does take NY players, but getting money on has been impossible as of late. Customer service tries to give you new ideas of pre paid visas, but the second one works, another card of the same type doesn't work a week later. Thus you end up needing to by multiple pre paid visas to find one that will deposit :(

FYI, the Merge network doesn't accept, and Betonline and Cake poker are both shady as heck. I'm trying to work with Lock now which doesn't have a sterling reputation either, but at this point I won't throw in more than $20 bucks. I'll update this thread if I can get money on.

Well Lock was a no go as well. All prepaid cards and regular cards didn't work. They wanted me to money gram my cash to a guy in Nicaragua lol. If anyone knows anywhere to play in NY I'd be great full

Your best option is Americas Card Room, but Actually, Lock (and some of the other popular Revolution Rooms) is one of the easier sites to get money on, though you may need easy assistance from others.

I have PM'd you directions for Lock Deposits, and you generally can get more of a deposit than you put money up (ie you spend 100 get $110 or $120).

So the consensus here in Lock Poker? Which deposit method seems to be the easiest?

Another NY player looking to start up...

I'm from NY and I play on Cake Poker. It's a long haul playing freerolls until you have something in your bank, but it can be done.
