If you think taking the addon increases your chance of winning, take it. If you're shortstacked or ridiculously ahead, maybe not.

Depending on the price, I strongly doubt I'd addon. But I don't play rebuy tourneys anyway. Just keep on truckin' like you are!

I agree with Storm. Why wouldn't you add on?

Look at it this way, you've got a decent sized stack. If you add-on, you stay that much ahead of the competition. If you don't add-on, you're giving them a chance to catch up. It's like them winning some big pots while you had to fold in the blinds. If you are worried about adding on because you don't think you can afford it (don't know if this is the case or not), then you shouldn't be playing the tournament in the first place.

So, bottom line to me is, you should always add-on to keep your edge.

Assuming standard starting stacks, 10K at the first break is not just decent, it is great.

Clearly bronco is in the groove in this scenario. The blinds are going up, the addons and rebuys have already established they are playing footloose and fancy free, and bronco is capitalizing on that.

They will come out after the break with a make it or break it attitude, and bronco only has to stay calm.

Adding 1500 chips, (approx 15% of his current stack) will give him a false illusion that he can withstand the onslaught of desperate players post break.

On a per chip basis, yeah they are cheap, but other factors come into play, and it is on those other factors that make my vote

NO!

and if you take a bad beat against a player and lose 3k you lost 33% of your stack without adding on. If you added one you can lose 15% of your stack?

there is no reason not to add on.

instant add on...every time...no matter what. I don't care if I have 25K in chips the add on for me is a no brainer. You want to give yourself every possible edge

You should add-on just about every time. If you're in first place with a ridiculous chip lead, like you have 60k and player in 2nd has 30k, then I can understand your doubts about there being any real benefit by adding on, otherwise its a simple call.

Anytime there's an edge you should take it w/o hesitating. I don't really think the buy-in matters much in this conversation because you shouldn't be playing above your BR anyway, and if the price for the add-on is a lot for you then you don't belong in this tourney to begin with.

If you give a look at some high stakes rebuy tournies like the $109 ones, or the $215, you'll see that even the chip leader will add-on every single time, even when he has, for ex, 19k and player in 2nd has 11k. The reason for this is pretty clear, and no, its not because he's rich or he's a winning player or the $109 means nothing to him.

Sorry dj, you're wrong in this one. I understand what you're trying to say but its not the only way to look at it. The make or break attitude by some players after the rebuy period is not a reason you shouldn't add-on, and TBH the play actually gets much better after the break. I might share some of your thoughts on this, but honestly I don't see how not adding on can actually help you more than doing so.

Definitely add-on. If you're playing to win, you want as much help as you can get.

All depends on size of blinds coming up.

10k + sounds a lot - whats the average chip stack, how big is the add-on?

I would want to make sure it was worth it value wish not just buying it because it was there :)
