I've been lurking on this site for awhile now and I finally wanted to make an account and ask some questions.

I've played online poker for about a year and a half now but I never have really taken it serious. I want to start grinding some micro-stakes and buy a tracking software but I do not really know where to start. I'm from NY and have a NY license but I go to school in OH where I rent a house. I also do not have a visa card, only mastercard. What should I do about that? Where should I start playing? What software should I use when I do start playing?

P.S. I already have a Bovada and a 5Dimes account but my Bovada account has my old shipping address in OH.

Thanks

Just don't join Lock poker. The games are easy there, but the cashouts take FOREVER (if you ever get one) been waiting for 4 months for my 1st withdrawal.

I'm from NY also, so I'm curious which are the best for NY players (since you can't create an account on some if you are from NY).

Welcome guys.

Sometimes it's best to eliminate places, and choose from what's left.

It sounds like you're set on using some sort of HUD/tracking software. With Bovada's number system and no names at the table, I don't believe there is any tracking software that would sync with their system. Seeing how you have Bovada already, I'm sure you've figured that out.

I play on both Bovada and Carbon Poker. Carbon is pretty cool, and it comes with it's own HUD for tracking. They both have gotten some of the best reviews overall with US players from what I've read long term on this site.

I would agree with UnluckyDude, I've heard nightmares about Lock's cashouts, but I've seen the wonderful admins here help out with that for loyal members. Don't say you weren't warned :)

We have a tracking software section in the forums. Spend some time reading around there and see what people are saying about the two big name softwares. The major ones also have some trial periods as well that you can try out before purchasing. I tried it out a bit myself, but was too confusing for me :) GL on your choice.
