I finished in sixth at the noble freeroll and got 3.50. I have now turned that into 11.30 at the ring games. I was wondering if anyone has every made serious money at ring games playing with money they won in a freeroll?

Nope, lost it all though :D

I've decided I'm just gonna play freerolls until I have a healthy bank roll then go from there. Those microlimits are just to crazy.

I haven't got the patience - I'd rather deposit some cash, play slightly higher limits and win quicker.
Having said that I did win about 5 dollars in a freeroll at Gutshot Poker last year (7 card stud!!) and bring it up to $44 at microlimits before getting bored.
I'm impressed with Crippler's achievement. What levels are you playing with your $193, Crippler?

yea i won 19$ from 1st place
put it into small buy-in guaranteed tourneys
hit money
played omaha hi/lo ring games .25/.5 and brought my total to ~$35
then i needed 3 more raked hands to be able to unlock it all since it was freeroll winnings
and hit up NLHE tables .25/.5
did pretty well...got my 3 raked hands so the money was unlocked
then kept playing......bad idea...lol
no sharks, but people were playing ridiculous hands
i got beat 3 really bad beats ( yea i know i've complained about people talkin about bad beats, alright im a hypocrite )
Q7 os heads up with a guy
flop comes 77Q
i decide to slowplay since this guy tends to bluff alot
turn shows A and river is a rag
there was runner runner for a flush poss. and he bet it, so i thought he had it
raised big and he pushed, obviously i called
he showed A7 LOL for FH over my Q7
he felt really bad, but thats just poker
so there goes $15
so i play again, double up
only to be beaten with my AA against a low flush all in
oh yea somewhere in between i had pp10s and a guy calls my 3X BB with 52
flop comes 792 or something
i push because i'm shorstacked
he CALLS
with PAIR OF TWOS
turn show 5.....:(
so i've decided whether it be the skill level, or just bad beats, i'm not taking my money to ANY NL ring games anymore
it wasn't so bad because it was all freeroll winnings
but i was still pretty pissed
$40 from nothing in 2 days...down to $0 in 1/2 an hour
i'll try to do it again but it'll be hard to build a bankroll like that again out of nothing

oh yea...so much for that $5 noble buy-in
i'm gonna have to hit up every noble freeroll until saturday in order to get $5 again
i think i can do it though....it's only tuesday lol
I think my biggest weakness in poker is not knowing when to stop
I go on really good streaks then say alright...time to stop while you're on top
and continue tomorrow or whatever
but keep playing
get shortstacked and try to double up then end up losing it all

It took a long time to get to the $193, which is now up to $265. I got it by playing on royal vegas and have never deposited any money. I did it the long, hard way... on the $.10/$.20 tables which are the smallest ones that I could find where I get raked hands regularly. I usually bring a very small amount to a table and 2/3 of the time i'll go all in on a good hand and lose, but once in a while i'll triple or quadruple up, and keep playing on that money until I win a few more times, then move to another table. So a lot of times it goes like this:

Bring-in $2.50, lose 2.50. Bring another 2.50, lose 2.50. Bring in another $2.50, win $11 or $12 and then go to another table.

This usually worked for me unless I went on a horrible streak. And $18 of my money came from sitting at a table where someone won the bad-beat jackpot (He got 250, winner of the hand got 125, all the rest of us at the table split another 125). His four 6's got beat by a straight flush!

I won $30 in a pokerstars freeroll, lets just say I have significantly increased my bankroll using safe strategy.

I placed in 3 freerolls at Noble for a total of about $50 and by now I about doubled that. I play the .25/.50c tables and will move on to also playing some low buy in tourneys. Never deposited any money anywhere, as I was unsure of my abilities, but by now am almost ready to do so for the bonus.

Dude, move up in limits. At least to the .25/.50. The games aren't any harder than the ones you're playing now and the move is definitely +EV. Imagine increasing your roll at 25 times the rate you are right now. Theoretically, that's what you can do at thw .25/.50. And if you see that you're running really bad or can't beat that game...well, if you can't beat that game, maybe poker isn't for you. Move up!
