A coworker of mine told me ESPN is dropping their poker progrmming, is this true and if so does this mean they wont show wsop this year, or does this just mean the other poker shows?I will be so bummed if I cant watch the WSOP this year!!!
PokerAfterDark is getting yanked too I heard (although it's still airing here in canada this week).
Why bother to show poker on tv when the advertising is to online poker rooms that the people watching the shows can't even play on?
I think you might want to post this thread under 'general poker'.
Not just advertising revenue. In most cases they were paying for the shows to be made and in some cases they were even buying the airtime they were shown in. The shows themselves were really just extended commercials.
I think I read a little while back that the WSOP and the National Heads-Up championship were the only televised poker events that were produced on the tradtional network-pays system.
