Has anybody else heard that the FTP update in January is going to raise the minimum buy-in?

I heard this on another big poker forum, but I don't want to link to it here, because that wouldn't be right. It is speculated to be a 40bb minimum buy-in now instead of 20bb. Think about how much this is going to change the game! Anyways there were some other changes listed too, but I mostly play cash so that was what caught my eye.

Feel free to speculate with me in the thread :) and talk about how this is going to change your game.

Perfectly fine by me. I hate when people are short-stacking... they could make it higher than 40BB for all I care

Awwwwwwwwww. I like to buy in close to the mininum, but I don't hit and run unless I double-triple up. I do this because it's a softer game for me in my opinion.

I think it will be 35bb instead of 40bb but we would have to wait and see. Either way, it is awesome.

Buying in for 20 BB is kinda pathetic. I've never understood why such people don't just play at lower levels where their stacks could have some weight.

That said, it's quite the sport to beat up on small stacks. One assumes they are playing scared...and it's pleasant to play with people who are anxious.

That sucks, I actually like when people buy in for less, easier to scare off hands and also if you get involved in a big pot it is never big enough to ruin your stack.

SSers never bother me much. If you play your game, their stack is coming to you either way, whether it is large or small.

Having been shortstacking for about a month on fulltilt after buying in deep all the time this sux. I enjoy playing the 20bb showdownstyle shove or fold. It's so easy to multitable and rack up the ftps and rakeback :) I even went to the nl $5 10 and bought in for 200 to play with the bigboys. I see about 3 shortstackers per 9handed table so I don't know why they want to kill 33% of their cashgame customers. There are already are 50bb min deep tables for the players scared or annoyed of the shortstacking ratholers.

I don't mind SSers per se, it's when the w*nkers double up and run off, so you dont get a chance to get your money back.

You are in the minority Joe

Joe I think you really like getting abused. Your previous slurring on your "bodog post" not enough for ya yet?
I guess most people are here on C.C to improve their game, learn and play "interesting" poker not shove or fold stuff. Obviously the majority have spoken and you and your ratholers are goin to have to find another playground. sorry mate, but you had a lil fun and profit while it lasted :)

I don't like shortstackers, but you're wrong. There are quite a few players that are very successful with short-stacking strategies. I can't remember his name, but there is one specific guy that I'm thinking of that has played like 1.5 million hands on pokerstars, all SS'd and has just about broke even as far as his play. But when you factor in his rakeback and the fact that he has brought himself to Spuernova Elite through all of those hands, he is making 6 figures just off of that.

It just depends on the shortstacker. The ones that will book as soon as they double/triple up, like JEP712 drive everyone up the wall and is the reason why people hate SS'ers. But I have seen people sit down at the table with minimum and then build it up to 200BB before they leave. I have no problem with them.

And doops, what if they are SS'ing at 2NL? There is no lower that they can go... just a thought

They should have different buy-ins minimums at different tables.
Why not have some tables play 20bb min buy-in and others at 40bb,
for those who dislike playing Shortstackers.
That way they could make everyone happy.

SS'ers burn in hell.

Maybe its time to take a break from the tables, lol.

Anyway I really doubt this'll change much in the game at all. They'll still play tight, if not tighter now that they have to put up double the buy-in, and hit n' run like never before IMO.

Thanks Ferguson....:D

35-40bb, i dont care, anything like that is a huge improvement.

to the guy that said they will lose customers, i doubt that, they will gain me as an active reg if these changes are implemented, surely many others too who dont want to play with shitstackers at ANY of their tables.

God that feels so niceto say, NO SHORTSTACKS EVER AGAIN ON FTP?!?! YESSSSSSSSSSSS!

What are "deep stack" tables then? I thought those tables were for people that didn't wanna play shortstacks?

I love shortstacks.. They seem to make me the most profit with the very very predictable nature and at little risk too.

Confused...

Maybe they should create $10NL tables where you can only buy in for $2 since that seems to be 1/3 of the players at any $10NL table on FT.

They won't lose any customers, the SS people will just buy in for $4 or $3.50 and still play the same way.

there's pros and cons to everthing.
and you most remember change is the only thing that's constant, so you either go with the flow or......you gripe about it.
it won't effect me much right now since i play mostly tournies very few ring games, unless they're offering some type of bonus. like now FT has 3xFTP's.
good luck all. peace. :)
