Ok, so i had a 4 hour session down at crown casino last night. Most of my first buyin went reasonably early to AIPF KK AA. I rebuy, sit back and watch the table, on numerous occasions i saw hands like ive never seen before. The table was loose, there was 2-3 regulars who just didnt fold a hand no matter how high the raisers where. So i decide to tighten up.

Im on the SB, i see UTG+2 raise $13 preflop, MP+1 and MP+2 and CO+2 call, button folds. I repop it to $75 holding AsAh, knowing im going to get a call from the loose UTG+2 and CO+2. Both infact call, UTG+2 has around $80 left, and CO+2 has around $600. Im sitting on $470, Flop Kc 8c 3c the ugliest flop i have seen for AA, Im first to act.. I figure the UTG+2 is pushing now with almost any club, any king, and any PP... Im more worried about stacking against UTG+2. I have to bet, and i do $150... UTG+2 pushes, and CO+2 He thinks then makes the call. Turn 6c, I think for a minute.. And check, He says the dreaded all in, my stomach turns and i fold, showing my hand. He turns Ac8s, UTG +2 turns pocket 9c9h.

Afterwards i called the CO+2 villain a maniac for the preflop call 25 BB with A8o. A hand i saw him shortstacking earlier was absolutely ridiculous, He raised from the button $15, UTG+2 as usual makes a call, hes been heads up almost everyhand for the last two hours. Flop As 2s 7s UTG+2 checks, Button bets, $45 an oversized bet for the pot, UTG+2 thinks for a minute then reraises all in, hes stack is around $340. Button is on around $140, button thinks for a minute and goes im beat but im calling anyway, shoves hes stack and turns over K3 diamonds... UTG+2 sighs and turns pocket 3's 3c3s.. Turn 10D river Kc. He rivers a king and takes down a pot of around $320. The last hand i play of my first buyin I had QJ of hearts in the BB, UTG+1 UTG+2, MP+1 all limp, MP+2 raises $15. Button, and SB calls, the 3 limpers also call. $90 in the pot, on a flop of Qs 7d 3d SB ( the maniac) pushes all in for around $110. I ignore hes push knowing hes a fool, and insta shove my last $47 gets around to MP and a guy reshoves for somewhere around $400, everyone else folds. SB shows Ks9s Nothing what so ever, no draw, no pair, K high, in a 6 way pot. I show QJ, MP shows Q7o two pair, Q on the turn all but seals my fate, a faded 5 on the river dosent help.

After losing the AA hand ~-$225 i was still up just on $100 in 4 hours, and had a few laughs and drinks so i wasnt to dissapointed with the whole night... Any questions tips would be appreciated

Hey Buddy,
It's always going to be a long night when you pickup strong preflop hands (AA) in bad position and get multiple players on a bad flop and maniac players yet to act (and a big pot already brewing). You feel as though you are going to win the pot that is there or lose your whole stack- it's tough and I feel for ya.

In the beginning of your post, you mentioned that you tightened up your play to counteract the super loose table. Based on the hands you described, the manic players were only calling big raises preflop (not reraising) and shoved once the flop came out ( I see this as loose passive play preflop).
I think tightening up your play can really freeze you here. I think you should have a full stack and see more flops than usual- no garbage- just every pp and more suited connectors than normal. You are going to win a huge pot at some point against these players and seeing more flops gives you this chance. Playing tighter puts you in tougher spots. The AJ's KQ's ect are tough because you probably don't feel comfortable getting it all in with only a pair.
This is just my two cents on the issue. However, if the maniac players start pushing preflop you have to make a decision: either gamble knowing you have a small edge or find a new table.

Best of luck to ya,
Blake

Thanks mate, and i guess your right. I tightened up at first trying to double my buyin, then i would loosen up slightly. The people at this table where just floating everyflop, and chasing every possible draw.. Any other advice from the above mentioned hands would be great.

I have no clue why any idiot would a really big raise with trash like A 8o. I don't really have much live experience, but i'm praying I don't play with idiot that call huge raised with A 8o. Unfortunately the turn was a club, but there was nothing you could do about it. Just better luck in the future, TC. :D

LOL Crown $2/3aments. Haven't played in that game in about a year, but it sounds pretty much how I remember it.

You've just gotta remember that in the long run, guys calling your big raises with A8o is a good thing and you've just gotta cope with the variance. Play solid, be prepared to rebuy a few times if necessary, and you should be right.

Is the 2/3 game at crown beatable in the long run due to the 10% rake and timed rake, also whats the max buyin at these stakes?

The rake is capped, at $6 i think from memory, $5 time charge per hour. And max buyin is only $200. With the kind of play you see on these tables its often im coming across people sitting on $1,000+

My $1500 profit is from only 4 sessions, the above mentioned, another two up just over $500 in under 4 hours, and another up around $400

aye i feel for ya like. These ppl can be nackers but they are there to gamble and im guessin these ppl have enough big bucks to reload a couple of times, i bet a few are also drinking? But i tottaly agree that if u've got the money to reload then start to see cheap flops with any PP and suited connectors. If u've got big slick then mayb jus limp and wait for that dream flop of KKX and the other numpty has K9 and decideds to shove. Or u hit a set with ur PP.
If ur gonna raise with big slick and get tons of callers anyway, then the vaule of ur hand is goin down and ur jus the one pumpin money into the pot. U wanna trap these ppl, not play tight and bet bcos there lookin of ways to catch u out, plus they dont care bcos they are there to gamble.

But u can play a tight solid raising game, and make money. But its fun to play a dif style every now n then ;)
