+1 PS FTW!

something I found a bit weird though:

Q: What is your site's stance on multi-accounting and seat-selling practices?

A: With trivial exceptions, a player may play on only one (his) account during a tournament and may not "hand off" his seat mid-event to a different player. Violation of this rule may result in penalties including disqualification from the tournament, with full forfeiture of winnings (which will be distributed to other players) and barring from PokerStars. Further clarification, including examples of what is acceptable and unacceptable activity can be found under Rule 21 at www.PokerStars.com/Poker/Tournaments/Rules.

The only thing that I can think, is if your internet connection goes out, late in a big MTT, I guess you could call someone to take over your account. At least maybe until you could drive there? Alittle confused about that one...

Here's Tournament Rule 21:

"With trivial exceptions, a player may play on only one account during a tournament and may not "hand off" his seat in mid-event to a different player. Violation of this rule may result in penalties ranging from a warning, to disqualification from the tournament (with partial or full forfeiture of winnings), to barring from PokerStars.

Examples:

  1. You get a phone call during a PokerStars tournament. You ask your husband, who has already busted out of that tournament, to play your hands for you. You are on the phone for ten minutes and then resume play. This is permitted.
  2. You and a friend are playing in the same tournament. You agree that if he busts out before you do, he will take over playing your account. This is prohibited.
  3. You are playing in a tournament and lose power in your home due to a failure of your power station. You call a friend and he takes over until your power is returned. This is permitted.
  4. Your husband is out of town for the weekend, but gives you his password. You log into both his account and yours and play both accounts in the same tournament. This is prohibited.
  5. You have progressed to the final few tables of a tournament and somebody offers you cash equity for your seat. You allow the other player to sign into your account, or you continue to finish the tournament following the explicit instructions given by him. This is prohibited. "

^^^ I understand all of their reasonings for the explanations, the only problem is that none of that could really be proved. I am talking about the permitted reasons. It seems to me that the people that have been punished have gotten themselves into trouble by bragging and telling too many people. They really couldnt tell if your power really went out or if you lost internet connection. Then of course we all know that "teams" play the bigger tournaments, where several people sit in front of one screen/one account and "ghost" the player. So you have 5 eyes on the game, 5 brains figuring out the problems, 5 players playing one game. They usually always have the advantage, since 5 eyes are better than 1. I only know for myself, that if I ever get to the final table in the Sunday Million, I sure as hell am not going to sell my account and never know if I could have taken it down and if I missed out on alot of money...

Probably not, but the rules are there to keep people honest. And I like to know that if my power goes out and I get someone to sit me for a bit that I'm not breaking any rules. Peace of mind counts for a lot when it comes to customer service.

I originally went with poker stars due to their deposit options, but have since found their software to be head-and-shoulders above the rest. Full Tilt is the only site I've played on that is even close, in my opinion. But there are still some interface tweaks that make me prefer PS. Even if PS had terrible customer service, I'd probably prefer them just due to the software. But, in the 2 years I've been using PS, I've had nothing but positive experiences with their customer service.

My only worry is that PS might be too good, and could result in less competition between the sites in a few years. :D

PS dealer chat

Does anybody know what's going on with the dealer chat in PS?
Before:
Dealer: player1 wins with a pair of Tens.
Now:
Dealer: Tens.

Sometimes,
Before
Player1: nh
Now
Dealer: Player: nh

Did you change your chat settings to dealer or everything (not sure exactly what the options are)?

When the table is open, click the dealers chips at the top, then in options (I think - I can check if you cant find it).

The only options there are: Dealer Messages:
1) Silent
2) Normal
3) Everything

No matter what have been chosen, the message in which the dealer is in front of a player was wrong.
