This is a discussion on New to online gambling. Poker Bonus? Good or Bad? within the online poker forums, in the Poker Rooms section; I know how a slots/pokies machine bonus works, and lol. I don't like them for myself, I tend to avoid those anyway, but how does
I know how a slots/pokies machine bonus works, and lol. I don't like them for myself, I tend to avoid those anyway, but how does a poker bonus work? I don't see any list of play through requirement, or such. If I get +100-200% on my deposit, how do they manage that? Surely they can't just GIVE money away???
What's the catch here? What do I need to look for to understand the deals on offer? For a slot it would be play-through, min/max withdraw, game restriction etc. I'm at a lose to how a poker bonus works though even when looking a bit closer I don't understand how they can give that money away and not go broke? Anyone got a simple explanation for me?

Online Poker at: was Titan
1. Most sites will explain this on their websites, at least the good ones will
2. They pay out X dollars of your bonus for every X amount of rake you spend on the site (cash game rake and tourney fees). This may be defined by how many player points you earn (which is the same thing, points are based on how much rake you spend). These numbers and definitions will vary from site to site
3. I HIGHLY suggest before you do anything to make sure the site (or headhunter site) includes a rake back offer, which is good for the lifetime of your account.
4. Depending on where you live the fine folks here can suggest the best sites to play, OBV PokerStars will always be #1, but if you cant play there it depends on where you live (and this may not necessarily have anything to do with bonuses, bonuses only last so long and are finite - a great place to play (with rakeback) is forever!)

Thanks for that, I'm starting to understand a little bit. It's quite different though. I guess it is a totally different system then.
