There is a brand new legal poker room here in Texas. I don't work for them or anything but have been a couple of times. It is called Mint Poker. They are located in Clear Lake, Texas. They don't rake but rather charge for play time coins (each coin is worth 30 minutes of play for 5$). Also, you have to buy tip coins for the dealers. My bankroll isnt that large so I wont be going back for cash much but the tournaments are decently priced and have alot of action. It was definitely fun playing in the tournament I was in. :)

Is this poker room only for Texas residents, or are players from other countries also able to participate?

It sounds like a ripoff to me. Even if you are losing, you pay 5 bucks every 30 min plus you tip the dealer? And if there are slow players at the table you are playing few hands, but still pay the same amount of money. I don't like it.

Ive been to one like this in San Antonio. Although, they charged like $8 an hour and you paid at the end. Tables were really soft too...

That's a better deal than what they charge, but still I hope it sticks around. There are rumors it will be challenged by the state soon because it is getting so much word around town. It will either stay or be shut down 50/50. I like it way better than the illegal rooms they had in the area before. The view is open right on the water and I do alright there.

I just moved to houston a few months ago, either move with the plant or find a new job. They paid for move so.. here I am. 10/hr sounds steep if someone is slowrolling the hell out of you. But since i haven't had time to find any tables down here i might have to check it out.
