I didnt even realize until now that online poker goes public on Tuesday! Anyone else from Jersey excited about this?

I downloaded the client, but they are advertising a free $20 bonus for creating an account which isnt valid during the test period so Im gonna wait till Tuesday to do it.

We only have a few active members from NJ as far as I know - I am sure they are all excited. I am jealous.

Right now it's good for the NJ players. In the long run I think it will be good for all of us. I believe once revenue numbers start getting published, other states will start to see the tax potential and follow suit.

I agree. I think NJ players will flock quickly to legal rooms. Ive been reading about how American players have been getting screwed over by online poker rooms these days. Having a safe place to play makes for an easy switch.

Seems to me like a step in the right direction. Jersey now being the 2nd (along with Nevada) to legalize online gambling. Its all part of the slow and steady movement.

It seems cool, but I have to wait since being in Philly. I love the Borgata though.

I think if I lived close enough to the state line of a state that had legalized poker I would do what Homer Simpson does with doughnuts. I would pull into a parking lot or cheap hotel of that state and play online poker. It would be glorious except for paying probably 40% tax on my winnings.

If your only gonna be here for 3 weeks theres some things you should know.

As far as I know, to withdraw anything you need to request it then once approved you have to go to the actual casino and prove your identity at the cashiers cage. So if you plan to withdraw at the end of your stay, you should also make plans to go to AC. I could be wrong, but this is what I understand about withdrawal right now.

And if your looking to choose which site to play on heres the best choices:

Borgatapoker.com has the most traffic, and there are plenty of players of all skill levels there. The site is the most fun to play on IMO, they have missions and achievements that earn you tourney tickets. Its much more like social media style poker than the other sites. The site can also be buggy at times, and I have been constantly having on and off lag and choppy play issues. The software is pretty, but very glitchy.

NJ.wsop.COM has a bit less traffic, but is a donkey watering hole. The players on there are so bad that the frequent suck outs may shock you. I think WSOP is a bit stingy as well, they have weak multi table tournaments and weak GTD prize pools compared to borgata. On the other hand, WSOP software runs much smoother.

If your coming to Jersey for a quickie I may suggest WSOP. A word of warning though, be very wary of collusion. Being that these sites are NJ only, there is quite a bit of collusion going on. Be careful about SnGs and leave cash games immediately if you get suspicious. I have encountered incredibly obvious collusion on a number of occasions.

Wow, yeah I never even thought of how much easier it would be to collude like you are saying...thanks for the information, really appreciate it...I'll probably just play it by ear but as far as cashing out in AC, not much of a problem for me because I'll be back at least every 2 months for work.

Yea, thats the latest information I heard. Its not bad though AC is not more than 2-3 hours for anyone in the state and withdrawals are processed in less than 24 hours.

Its not terrible but still has to be a pain in the ass to drive 4-6 hours to get your cash. I bet they did it so they get you to walk through the gauntlet(casino floor) before you can get your money out the door.

It doesnt take that long to get to AC from anywhere in NJ. Tops is probably 3 hours.

You actually have to go to the casino to cash out? Really? I knew there had to be a catch. Clearly this a racket to get you onto the casino floors but I'm curious about the twisted reasoning the laws makers used to sell this scam.

Is there ever going to be a way to get a check by mail? Think how awesome that would be. You could get a check in a few days from someone in the US instead of having to pray that you get your money from a site located in a third world country.

This is only a temporary thing because banks are reluctant to do business with the casinos right now as they arent clear about legal matters. People have been having a hard time with bank transfers into and out of the casinos.
