New CARBON freeroll payout structure

What do you think of the new payouts and lack of ribbons at carbon?

(NOTE: I am adding a poll to this, my first, to see if you guys like this new structure; This is my first poll, so if I screw it up, I apologize in advance)

I was playing my favorite free donk-a-doodle-do game last night, the $50.00 CARBON free roll, when right in the middle, it paused: "waiting for other players to finish". Thinking it was a bit early for that, I discovered the "new" payout structure: (It used to be top 30 players got paid)

50.00 free NLH: top 144 pay (4 am one, which is weird) top 386 (!?!) pay (6 and 10 pm) Started at three cents (lmao) and #1 was 8.61 which is half of what it was (approx)
50.00 free HORSE: top 64 players, start at 0.21, First place $10.94

(All the above numbers are close approximations)

Clearly Carbon wants to see more players happy, but honestly, three cents? Well, It's nice because I know now I'll always make some change (literally). Maybe it's to gin up interest in the leader boards? I don't know..Why do you think they are doing this? What do you think about it?

On a related note, does anyone have any clue as to why they stopped giving out ribbons to winners??

Ok, caps police, I'll come along quietly....

Seriously? I only did it for the two questions and yet even that is too much for you? Really? I thought it was an appropriate use. Let me guess, you don't like shouting? (lol).

Actually, if you just would have waited, I wasn't done reviewing and posting it, you are too fast.

Happy?

I know that, I thought it was "unless appropriate". I thought making the two questions in caps, thus highlighting them, was appropriate. Next time I'll italicize or make it bold

Sorry, clearly this bugs people more than misspellings, wrongly worded sentences, not capitalizing anything, improper punctuation, you name it.

Sorry. Please do not let this ruin your day. :) I did fix it....

I think the payouts are pretty dumb. They don't have way for someone to even use .03 on the site. If they're gonna have spots that pay that low they really should add daily 1 cent tourneys and 1 cent sng's.

$50 for a freeroll is a joke if you think about it. Most players would go bust with a $50 bankroll in a heartbeat anyways. Might as well pay the most players.

It's a $50 prize pool - winner only gets $10 of it now...

Just to clarify and concur with your point you're making.

I like the new payout structure because it is difficult to get into the top 30 out of 3,000+ people consistently. also I am trying to build a bankroll from nothing on carbon and the new structure is already helping so far between free rolls and and fun steps i am up to $2.51

My thinking as well

Yeah, I never have a problem making the top 10% (it's usually around 3500 players) so it's nice to make something for your trouble. It still beats the poker host $2.25 free; easy to make final table, hard to win (I won maybe 4 out of 100)

So, if you are knocking down 3 cents consistently, sooner or later you will be at 10 cents, 20, etc;

Nope, last night it was only $8 and change for winning outright. Used to be 13 and change.

Well, every little bit helps, but it is pretty lame. Not only that, they have a nasty habit of changing the total number of payouts in the middle of the game. They did it on this mornings HORSE game. Went from 100 something to under 100 suddenly. I then bubbled, of course, lol. Plus, they actually have an entirely different structure for the NLH game at 4:00 am. I guess you just will not know until it is over!

I think the cheapest games they have are the 6 cent MTT and the 11 cent SNGs lotto games (300 chips/3 minute blinds). People must like that structure however, I have seen $100.00 games setup same way; 300/3 and 1500/3. Must be nice to risk a c-note on a hyper-turbo, eh?

no ribbon is quite bad for free roll winners...
the glory part in a 3K freeroll weighs more than the money you get from 50bucks 3K entry freeroll.

I made 8 cents in the 9pm freeroll lol. i got destroyed by a retarded hand though. called an all in bluff on the turn and with odds extremely in my favor for the river and the dude hits one of 2 outs . That guy is in the final table right now haha.

pfft, it just means 300-ish people are making 4 cents each. I'd prefer the payout structure being top-heavy, even if it's more lotto, because a min-cash in those is completely useless.

The 10PM $50 freeroll had a top prize of $8.75 and positions 217-252 get 5 cents, I just checked again and the top prize is now $8.73 and positions 253-306 get 4 cents. It looks like the more people sign up the flatter the payout structure. I guess it's a little better in some ways, in the old structure it usually took more than 2 hrs just to make the money so it really sucked to bust out 5 minutes short and have nothing at all to show for your time.

What REALLY concerns me is they standardized the fee structure for SNGs to 10% across the board for micro and small stakes games. That's a serious problem for hypers and especially HU hypers, because hyperturbo structures are much harder to beat than regular structures -- success at the hypers is predicated on their high volume and lower rake.

Is it ten percent? I could swear it has changed after the game starts, at a later time. Since there is no late reg, I am still trying to catch this so I know I am not crazy. I look at pays during the first break, it's at 3xx. 2nd break, it is 2xx. Propane Goat makes me think I am not crazy, since Aleksei points out 10%.

Come on, merge, which is it?

In the end, you just cannot beat free money. Just do not divide it by the amount of time it took you. That shines a bad light on it, lol.

I think that all the poker sites should stop having free rolls and just pay me the entire prize pool =) JK they should keep the free rolls but still pay me the entire prize pool =o

I just don't see how this is worth your time; sifting through 3500 players to win $0.03 is my idea of a nightmare, On top of that it's hard to learn and progress playing tournaments like this because the play is soooo bad.

Even fun steps would be a better option (if they still have those), but don't get me wrong those are time wasters as well.

Why not play a smaller field $1 tournament where you can actually get something for your troubles?
