A while ago I won a forum freeroll on Power Poker to the $40k GTD Sunday game. By the time Power issued me the ticket, the game and ticket had been changed to a $30k GTD game. For reasons I'm not going to explain, I couldn't make time to play the tourney till today ( it only runs on a Sunday ). Imagine my surprise to find there is no longer a GTD game at all, only a $2k added for a $100 + $9 buy-in and my ticket now shows valid only for that game. Obviously this network is going down the crapper and I have withdrawn my funds from Cake & Power and I advise you all to do the same.

How long ago were you issued the ticket?

Although theoretically you should be able to hang on to a ticket forever, it's just a bad idea to let them sit for more than a month, in my opinion. Playing them as soon as possible is probably the best thing to do.

Or, if you're not sure if you want to play a tournament, sometimes it is possible to convert that ticket into its cash equivalent (I did this on FTP recently on another forum). I had won a T$216 into the $750K. It's played on Sunday, and I'm not sure I'm going to be able to play. Well, if I get the cash, I can sit on that cash as long as I like, and what happened to the OP here won't happen to me. If I decide I want to play the tourney I can still enter with that cash.

even still, I feel your pain. It is getting obvious that Cake has gone down the tubes since the April 2010 shift of Player's Only and Sportsbook from Cake to Merge.

Kind of hard to feel bad for you if you kept the ticket for 2-3 months before you decided to use it.

The value of it is the same - you just waited too long to use it.

Understandable, but a $109 ticket should be allowed to buy into any tourney, not so on Cake network. TD$ on FT are a different animal.

The think is that you not really invest any money for the ticket.

I mean, you win it in a freeroll, then by the time you finally get it the GTD game go down from 40k to 30k, is the site fault?, not really, things going bad for all Cake network so they need to cut the GTD money if they get less players, the GTD is for all network not for a skin, skin can´t do nothing on that, but they honored and still let you play in the game even if was not the same (some sites let you play a ticket only for the intended game, and when promotion end ticket is useless).

But then you do not play the game in that time when you get the ticket, again not site fault.

So now you try to play it and 30k game is also gone, site fault?, not really they can change the games when they want. they trow your ticket to trash?, no, they still honored and let you play in a game available, even if is $109 with only $2k.

You never pay for your ticket, you win it, you have time to play it and not play it, still they let you play when they consider is ok to played.

If the ticket was adquired with $ then is another think, but this way i really don´t see the site doing nothing wrong.

If you don´t play the ticket today and decided to played in another month and Cake network or the site closed they have to give you anything for your ticket?, not really.

Is pretty much like the $1000 bankroll builder on the weekends, lets say you play the freebie and win your enter to the $1000 game, you don´t pay for the ticket you earned, but you decide not to play it and after a couple months decide to play, what if by then the 1k game is not there anymore and now is just $500?, is they fault that you not play the game at that time?, no.

Sorry man, but i really don´t see nothing that site do it wrong.

That Cake network is down in traffic and games now, yea. That i don´t play there anymore?, yes. But i know if decide to play there i don´t need to be careful with my funds like your topic name said, a ticket have nothing to do with funds, you even mention withdraw from both so your money never been steal. And cake is not fulltilt to want to compare how the tickets are manage.

Logan, I mentioned FT cause someone else did. As for the ticket under discussion, it's worth $109. If I buy or win a ticket to see A, I don't expect to get told I HAVE to see D.

I think the thread title is a little bit too "strong" for the situation happen. Also, at least they still give a value to that ticket, not trash it away like other said.

So why does this endanger your funds? I think your title is way out of line here. I don't play on Cake and probably never will but you're making it seem like they're ready to go under and keep everyone's $$ when that's clearly not the case.

Something like "Cake Poker is making me buy into a specific tourney with a ticket instead of any $109" doesn't quite sounds and sensational though does it????

I didn't say either in your opening paragraph, I have never had a problem withdrawing from the Cake Network. I said, ' be careful' . Their player base is obviously shrinking ( or not expanding ) yet the whole week, they offered sattys to the $30k GTD, then changed it(today, to my knowledge, but I'm not a brain surgeon ) to a $2k added game. The oddest part of all is that more players entered the $2k added, than the last $30k GTD ??????? go figure. BTW, CC runs a $100k ticket game on Bo-Dog, imagine how u would feel if you won it, then it was discontinued?

FWIW, use ANY ticket on ANY site ASAP,,,,end of. Stating or defending your case also gets your post count knocked down it seems.

What? None of your posts have been touched. The only way for that to happen is to actually have posts deleted. A quick check shows no deleted posts, so not sure what you're implying?

Yeah, cake is a cool site if you like to wait an hour to be seated in an SNG or like your guaranteed tourney be canceled because they didn't have enough players. Oh and their software is totally awesome too if you like the dated/laggy software of last decade.

Not really trying to turn this into a cake bashing thread, but they just make it too easy! Screw cake, lol.
