Multiple Online Accounts...

Back in the late 2000s when online poker was big in the U.S., I had setup 2 accounts at full tilt poker. One was my main account that I would play from, and the other was basically my dumping account where I would take 3/4 of my profits from tables and stash it so I would have a reserve that wasn't immediately available if I hit a tilt session and wanted to throw all my money at a situation because emotions got hot. It forced me to log out of the main, log into the dumping account, and then make the decision to transfer funds. Added a time/emotion buffer to the equation that probably saved me a fair amount of money.

Just to be clear, as a matter of principle, I never was logged into both accounts at the same time.

Does/Has anyone else done this?

I would not try this today, since most poker sites crack down on multi accounting ferociously. This forum is full of posts from people, who had their account blocked because of suspicion of being involved in this activity, which is against the TOS of all sites.

Multi acc banned all sites so that you risk losing all the time at your place, I would have stopped this activity.:eek::eek:

I had 2 accounts on Fulltilt years ago as well. I only used 1 for real money. The other was the first one I created and played play chips to learn how to play poker. Once I started making thousands on my second account, they tried to get me in trouble. But I had emailed them long ago letting them know, since they would let me change my screen name, I created a new account. After much back and forth, they shut down my old account. As far as I know, it’s against every sites policy to have more than 1 account. I wouldn’t do it again.

Sure,
I got 2-3 accounts per each poker site for like 11 years now.
Main account registered with my details, secondary accts registered using relatives details... different adresses and names ofc. I also got 2 ground internet connections in my house and ofc mobile connection can always help. Have passed all security checks and I also opened bank accoutns and cards.

but

LOL. I'm not using these accounts for past 3 years like I used to, just because I don't like playing poker like so called "pro/reg" or better to say like some "drug addict". Got more interesting and more profitable way to live my life that allows me to learn and grow as a human and do something useful for myself and for the society. Kinda feel now that I've washed away 7 years of my life playing poker ~10 hrs a day/6 days a week.

But now, in these days i think that is not posible to have multiple accounts, unless it is a room where it is allowed, I think that in pokerstars is allowed more than 1 person to use the software from the same device but with certain limitations, for example if you played a tournament that allows only one entry per person, and you lose with an account, then you want to register in the same tournament from the other account and that's where you get a message that someone else with your same IP has already played that tournament, it has happened to me since I have my brother who also plays to online poker.

All the session data is stored in internal cookies in the different devices, and it is very easy for the system / software to know if different sessions or different users were started from the same device or same connection.

I had multiple accounts on partypoker. I would not do that now. It could stop you from getting your winnings or playing at all.

Thanks everyone... it's been a bit and I know the servers/clients/software have changed over time.

Looking forward to Monday... hopefully there is some poker to be had.

Seems way to crazy to risk your account. Especially here in the US with limited options

No, but ive had 888 tell me to "just make a new one and the old one would get deleted by the system". 888 Denies the conversation ever took place. You can guess what i went through with this one. Needless to say it is my opinion that 888 is the biggest rigged scam site on the internet today and i stand by what happened.

Unfortunately, it's with good reason... I haven't been online playing cards since infamous black friday. And I really don't have a casino around here I call "home."
I was hoping we'd see more with the online gambling situation in PA, but today was a bust.

Soon enough though... hopefully Pokerstars or party poker. We'll see who runs better promotions. :D

On one lesser known site that I play on, I see multi accounting in freerolls a lot. People aren't even trying to hide it either. For example, they'll use names for their 1st account like OZCheater and for their 2nd account OZ2Cheater. They'll register the same tourney with their multiple accounts and ITM multiple times!

It's super frustrating when the site doesn't do anything about it!:(

Have you ever reported it with accompanying documentation? Seems that'd be a proactive action. If you have - and they still have not responded - I'd switch clients.

We should all expect a level/fair playing field. If a site allowed this and did not respond to notification of this kind of infraction, I would not give them my business.

Yes I have reported it!! Normally I'm not the type of person to report such things but when it directly affects my chances to ITM, I have raised my concerns to customer support!!:call2:

Unfortunately, not only did they do nothing about it, the amount of people multi accounting on that site have actually grown in numbers!! :D:eek:

I have never deposited on that site but have managed to withdraw some Freeroll winnings so all in all, I can't really complain! :):p

I would not do it

Not work the risk of being refused a potential gain.

I've never done that but my wife has an account that I guess I could transfer money to if I wanted - but what would be the fun in that?

Most poker sites and some forums like 2+2 Transfer Thread really frown on this

Yes, frustrating. They'll be blocked if you report this.
But the freerolls I play are limited to one platform.

It would suck to go on a heater and build a big bank roll all to have your withdrawl be denied and your funds siezed and account closed.. You wouldn't be the first person that happened to.

I can understand people having multi accounts in error. Like if they lose the account details, change their server, or just simply have a senior moment.

I think it's good they do this. Kinda sucks when my dad's and my account get locked because we have the same name... lol..
But we made sure never to play together
