iv been working for the past 2 days at the wsop europe at the empire casino london just wondering if anyone can clear something up for me....

on day 1a the first flight played until the end of the 300/600 75 level and day 1b played to the end of the 200/400 50 level

i dont start work there til around 7pm so not sure if they started late on day 1b or what but is this normal ?

do you think this gives any flight an advantage/disadvantage ?

no one even seeemed to notice around me and when i asked they just sorta shrugged

any thoughts ?

Welcome to Cardschat.

Seems to me it would create and advantage for those who made it to the higher level. They would have larger stacks it seems, on average.

I'll take a pie in the sky guess that this will either be a very big issue, with public gripes, or it will get swept under the rug and forgotten by all except an elite few, happily who will now include a few Cardschatters. Thanks.

Is that the official way to designate the participants in split days like that? The word 'flight' is new to me in this usage.

I know at the WSOP Main Event in Vegas, they make a point of every day/flight playing for the same amount of time on Day 1. Same on the two Day 2a/2b, though I think there were a few questions about stopping one or both a bit early this year because they were concerned the bubble might burst without the whole field being in the room.

Normally all players should be playing for the same amount of time, and start each day with roughly the same number of opponents to give everybody the same opportunities for accumulating chips.

From what I've read about the WSOPE though, playing two different start days over three different venues would be creating all sorts of logistical problems.

At the end of the day it's up to the tournament director though - they should be across the whole situation. Maybe the Day 1b players are going to squeeze in an extra level before Day 2 officially starts?

Edit: just pulled up the blog and noticed they're not combining the field until Day 3 - so it's possible this is no biggie if they're planning on running Day 2b a little longer and finishing at the same level as the 2a players. It makes not difference which day they play the level on, as long as the fields are up to the same point when they merge.

swept under

looks like no one felt like this was big enough deal to make an issue...went back today and no one mentioned it i decided to just let it lie and watch gus hansen who now has a 100k chip lead over the rest of the field

I notice Pokernews isn't as comprehensive in reporting the level / blind changes as the were at the Rio earlier in the year, but I think they said Day 2a played four levels?

If Day 1b did finish a level earlier than 1a, but Day 2b plays five levels tomorrow (or today... whichever it is - it's all messed up to an Aussie) then everybody will be entering Day 3 having had the same amount of play.
