Hi all. Great site:)
I was wondering if anyone here has had much experience with the various hold'em pc games on offer. I have been playing poker for a few years and have had varying success playing real money games. I know that a pc game will never be as good as the real thing but for some basic techniques I think a good pc simulation can help a beginner to learn from some mistakes without losing loads of money in the process.
So which is the most realistic pc poker game?. Stacked with Daniel Negreanu is great but on my pc the ai will sometimes, when in a heads up battle, get into a raising war where each player keeps re-raising the other,,again and again, like a broken record, plus the gameplay is quite slow, not like online play at all. The re-raising wars are obviously a bad bug and really put me off the rest of the game..so I have also got hold of "T.J Cloutiers World Class Poker" and "Tik's Texas Hold'em". Both seem pretty good for the beginner but to me Tik's seems to be closer to real play because the A.I is tougher to work out, and in TJ Cloutier (in medium difficulty mode at least) you can steamroll over just about any opponent once you have the chip lead. Which game shall I use to practice? And again, I know real play is the only real way to practice but I can only get online for a limited period each week so if I can also practice with a pc game I'd like to.
Thanks in advance for any advice.

Hi Pokerrqueen thanks for the welcome and quick reply.

I did play alot of play money poker before I finally moved onto real money, and to be honest I find play money on the poker sites is not a very realistic game, because everyone calls too much, trying to draw out, and because its fake money they have no problem playing like that..its not the best preparation for a real game, in fact I have found the pc games to play more realistically than the on-site play money games mainly for this reason.

I have no problem with playing real money games but I wondered what you guys thought of the various PC game offerings for those times when I can't play online.
Thanks again.

I'll second this. I like to play online w/ play and real money - but being in the military, we go TDY a lot. I'd like a good PC Hold 'Em game that I can play even if I don't have an internet connection.

Having said that - I really didn't like wsop Tourn of Champs. I like it on XBox 360, but I downloaded it for the PC and the graphics blew. Ran in very low resolution and I could not find an option to change it.

The one thing I find about some of these games is the graphics and animation are much too slow. I don't even care about characters or anything - just give me pokerstars/bodog w/ a built in AI so I can play it away from an internet connection and I'm all over it.

I've played Hoyle's Casino - I don't recommend it (other than the regular games like blackjack/3 Card/Let it Ride). Also have WPT 2, AI not too bad, but again animation is slow.

I have WPT and it was alright - older graphics, but I have found it the most fun for me. I haven't played it in a while and not since I've learned so much about the game - so I may reload it and hate it.

Anyway - I'll def monitor this thread as I'd like to hear other reviews.
