Merge vs cake/revolution

From my observations now granted they might be wrong. I see that most of the people here recommend the merge network over cake/revolution. But when I look at pokerscouts they always have cake/rev having more people on their site.

Why do you think this is? or am I wrong in my observations?

Pokerscout measures cash game players, not tournament or total players.
