I don't know about you guys, but I had reached level 10 Card on RPM, and I had a nice $2000 monthly freeroll to play at the end of every month. Once you get to your level you always had access to that game every month for free. This was nice because it had like 250 runners in it. I was considering trying to reach level Jack card, in order to participate in the monthly $3000 freeroll, since it was only getting like 150 runners.

Well, no more free ride folks!

Turns out they are all gone, and replaced by a network-wide $10,000 freeroll! For the new one you need to get 250 VIP points every month to get into it. Unlike before, where you just got to a certain level and you were just able to play that freeroll. Now you have to work to get into it - and I guarantee this new game will get over a thousand runners.

Kind of glad I didn't waste my time trying to get to Jack Level.

EDIT: Just confirmed with RPM chat that those games are gone and replaced by the $10K. If you do level up, you can get more cash from your VIP points, UNLESS you are a rakeback player, which I am. So in MY case, there is NO incentive to level up. Good game, Merge.

That sucks! It was a reason albeit minor, that I continued to play on Merge. Yet another way Merge is going down hill. This will hasten my move over to WPN.

Merge is getting cheaper by the minute. First the tournament guarantees get decrease every month, The freerolls went down to $50, and now the VIP systems don't man squat because you have to earn 250 points every month.

Seems they are trying to stay afloat with the lose of traffic on the network. Maybe the lose of the skins recently has had some effects that merge did not see? They been around for quite sometime so I'm sure they will get it sorted out and right sooner or later but in the mean time, we just have to play selective.

It's just something for you to keep in mind when you try to grind out some kind of long term promotion. You might get 55% of the way there, and then the poker room removes that promotion from under the rug.

I get rakeback through an affiliate plus VIP points against the portion not raked back. For the volume I play on merge it's actually a better deal for me. The traditional points to cash isn't better unless you are a high volume player and have over 300K VIP life time. They have a rule about being inactive for too long your VIP level will decay.
Since I can't exchange points directly for $$ because of my rakeback, with this new change I can't think of any reason someone like me cares if my status decays or not.
