Hi people.

I'm in the general area of the casino and play there often. Starting Monday they are having a series of tournaments that go on for 2 weeks with guarantees that total up to $1 million for the tournaments. Going by how their regular tournament are attended I would suspect the guarantees will be about half the actual prize pools.

I'll be playing in a couple of the lower limit ones ($550 entry fee and the $150 entry fee), if I do well enough I may play in the $3500 main event.

The rumors are there are some serious names coming, perhaps not for the main event tournament itself but for the cash games that go on during the tournaments.

If you're coming let me know, maybe we can get together for a drink or something.

I played in an event last year at Maryland Live (just a regular tourney) but I was very impressed. They have a good tourney schedule, and the regular games seem to always be packed. There are a few problems with the room (food and beverage service at the table is next to non-existent, and I think you have to go downstairs to find a bathroom, and the wait list for cash games is very long on weekends, in particular). But I think it is doing fine and am looking forward to going back there soon.

Well, I'm done with my portion of the tournaments. I played in both the cheap $150 $50 bounty tournaments.

Some amusing, well maybe not amusing but interesting items:

Both tournaments started with 240 entrants, they took alternates until the end of the 6th level. In both tournaments that ended near the 350 mark.

In the first tournament I knocked out 3 people early, got knocked out myself at 11:02pm.

In the second tournament I knocked out 3 people early, got knocked out myself at 11:04pm.

I thought the tournament was well run but it was really my 1st "special" tournament so what do I know.

The bottom line is, my expenses for the tournaments were the 2 waters and 2 cokes so a whole $4 and since I got comps based on the approx 8 hours of play, I "made" $10 or so.

Not a great profit. ;)
