So, this afternoon I was looking for a game, something cheap that I didnt have to focus on too much.

I entered the $3.30 $1,500 GTD at 2:00 PM. Well, now its 10:00 PM and its still playing - 8 hours later - I guess I should have looked more carefully where it said open registration for 5 hours but c'mon, that's ridiculous! I know its my own fault but here I am, 8 hours later and so far have only banked $11.28.

The good news is that im in 2nd place and God willing may win a couple hundred bucks - Either way, no more 8+ hour games for me unless there is real money involved even then, as far as online I dont have the patience lol

Good luck, please let us know how it goes.

Just finished 9.5 hrs...

5th - $101.57 - Just when the dollars were jumping up quick... Wasnt a bad loss, chip leader flopped a set - always reassuring when I know I played well and didnt make any real mistakes

But damn, thats a long time for micro stakes online tournament

Sounds like it paid itself off, though. Nice job sticking it out and grabbing a nice little bankroll in the process.

They've gotta keep registration open this long or they won't hit the guarantee - can't have that.

Good job on the 5th place! :D

Congrat to win.
I always fell sleepy after playing 4 hours of poker.
It's hard job for me to play 9.5 hrs.

Yeh, I agree, the tournaments on ACR last way too long. Five hours of late registration is just too much.

Yeah the 5hr late reg is a joke. Most of them at ACR are 3hr, some are 2hr which isn't too bad, but 5hr is ridiculous. Hopefully as the player pool continues to increase, they will drop the late reg length and keep the GTD.

Been there.

Not only ACR but other sites as well , the long registration are to secure more funds for purse as well as for operations. if you don't have the time and are secure in your ability you can walked down novice players . My most recent serious cash was on a late registry entry

I agree, if you start at the beginning (as I do), the 5hour late reg makes for a very long tourney. And kind of an anti-climactic feeling to min cash in these long low stakes tourneys. But at the same time, I don't mind the small blind jumps and long period of deep stack play. I prefer postflop play to the preflop shoving that happens when players start to get short. I view the beginning as a warm up for my situational board analysis since it is more rare to see all the chips go in at that stage.
If you don't like the long grind and prefer the shorter stack play, late reg. For example, in a 10k starting chip stack tourney(looking at structure on ACR of OSS #26 ), instead of coming in 500bb deep at the beginning, you can shave 2 hours off your grind by registering late and you will still have about 60bb starting stack. And, if you don't mind playing 20-30bb deep and doubling up for your tournament life, you can come in 3-4 hours late. Not sure I would suggest coming in any shorter than that. But I have seen it. GLGL all on your grinds (long or short)! :)
