Just wondering if any members have tried to make a living online playing poker ?

What site would you choose ?
How many hours do you play a day ?
What stakes would you play or rooms ?
What kind of a bankroll startup would you recommend?

What is considered a good daily poker income ?

I have never tried to make a living from poker, I would soon be broke, but from people I have talked to who have made money from poker the one thing that is consistant is that none of them set out to make a living out of playing poker.
They just played poker and realised they were good at it and were making money out of it, and as for hours, stakes etc, just like life everyone is different everyone has to find their own way.
I can guarantee that 99.9% of poker players lose in the long run and the skill is only losing the amount you are confortable with.
So my advice is just to play poker and it winning happens great, if not just enjoy it for what it is, a game of a bit of skill and a lot of luck, or is it the other way round ? :D:D

To live online poker depends a lot on the level you have ... but based on your being a good player ... you could play cash table 0.10 / 0.25 ... and play tournaments of $ 3.30 up. You can play 8 hours a day just as if it were a job ...!

I would advise you these poker rooms Ultima poker, poker stars, acr .cash games I don't love well, or blinds on small 0.1-0.2$ I prefer hold'em tournaments.that would normally earn you have to play 4-10 hours but it is necessary to look for health if you are tired you will lose be careful and good luck

I advise Poker Rooms - Pokerstars, American Card Room & Party.

I would not advise to full time at start maybe start part time a few hours a day 3-5 maybe 4-5 days and see how it goes.

Tournament play is probably the best bet for good patient poker players. That way you don't have to calculate time. Remember a lot of the poker rooms are not necessarily random to the core. Many of the them are programmed which makes making a living difficult online. I tried it for a while(online that is) and they no longer accept us players but sportsinteraction was part of a network I loved (I can't remember the name of it) and I cashed out in the one tournament I liked once a day 5 times a week for $500.00 to $1000.00 daily in a $50.00 buy in tournament. What I liked about Sports Interaction was I got my withdrawals from 3 days to 7 days. It was awesome. They changed their network and that particular tournament was vanquished. I was sad to see it go to say the least. I never made a living playing cash games on either poker site I'm sorry to say. I do believe it's possible for tournament play if you are a patient type player. Most sites are programmed so patience is a huge must. If you play tournament for a living play $5.00 to $50.00.($5.00 will be more players, $50.00 will be less player(BEST IF YOU CAN AFFORD IT). Either one will eliminate your bankroll question. If you profit at all for that day playing the "SAME" tournament or tournaments(Try to play no more than 3 for rest) each day; you're doing good. Don't change and don't be greedy. Say NO to making a living in cash games online. The is my honest assessment and I hope this response helps you. Good luck.

I'm sure i've read it's about 75% lose in the long run. I am convinced that anybody can become a profitable player if they study and use correct bankroll management. I personally haven't had a negative month in the last 18 months so I know it's possible.

I totally agree. One of the smartest bits of advice i've run into on a poker forum. I really believe that if one is serious about "making a living" playing poker they should play live poker at a casino. I seem to run decent at live cards. I use to play no limit at the casino and either I would profit really fast or lose really fast. Bankroll management is the most important thing in playing poker for a living. The problem with playing no limit is a lot of the time you will play people with much bigger bankrolls than you which puts them at an advantage really fast. I would start playing limit poker at the casino if you are interested at "making a living" and slowly work on your bankroll to start out. When I first started out I would play no limit which is a BAD IDEA unless you have a VERY healthy bankroll. However, I could play limit poker and pretty consistently profit in 3-6 limit poker playing 3-5 hour stretches which at the time was much more than I could've made at an average paying job for sure. So moral of the story start small and work on that bankroll, because you're gonna need it in the world of gambling for sure, lol. Good luck to you!

I think every person has to decide with which bankroll to play it or which tournaments. Different people have different tournaments. To begin with, try to play chips, and you decide for yourself which style suits you.

Before you figure out bankroll and what sites and games to play make sure you have around 6 months of living expense. It may seem extreme but downswings can be a bitch.

I win money in poker but not much, I have daily work and I play only in the evenings or on weekends, but when I get extra profit in poker it's good, choose a site for poker and if you have a normal bankroll then play the cash game at rates of 0.10-0.25 and more, there it is very good to raise the bankroll, poker rooms ON THE INTERNET a lot of very, choose one to work well in your country and try to earn!

this applies to both poker and sports betting to stay in the win, you have to stop playing after a big win otherwise if you play for a long time you lose more than you won

You got a pretty damn good point. Most of lose have slumps that counteract any profits we may have made. I know, at least speaking for myself, i go on streaks in both directions. sometimes. I run good. Sometimes I run bad. But my approach doesnt change too much. If you can make many playing poker its one of those thing you will know

If you think of living this requires that you have an extremely strong psyche, follow their playing field, and never be irritated to the opponents. I would probably play at least 6 hours a day, as well as focus on tournaments.

To play online poker for a living would be a very uneventful life. I remember seeing one online poker player who made it to one of the live tournaments. This guy had deep and black bags under his eyes. I would never treat this hobby as a life endeavor. It's a great diversion and can possibly help make some big money with tournaments.

I think only 1% of players can make a living at poker. I think it was that or 1/2 a percent. The low buyins you can't do it for a living that is a waste of time. I been looking at mtts and even the guys averaging around 20 dollars per buyin over a full year of volume still only making around 5-10k a year. You have to average around 50 dollar buyins then you can hit serious money in mtts guys making around 50k-100k a year doing that. But a lot of them lose too

In cash the problem is the collusion. You gotta watch out for that and you pay a lot rake in cash games because not only are you paying rake but your also paying the sb and bb with your own money. In mtt your paying the sb and bb with chips.

For cash games gotta play 200 and 400nl to make a living and grind a lot of hrs every month. Say you make 40k that year which is pretty good. 40% comes out in taxes which is 16k. You will have to pay taxes cause banks will audit you if your coming up out of money from no where and last thing you want them to know is your playing poker. Put self employed and trust me pay your taxes. So that leaves you with only 28k the rest of the year and only 2333 a month. Then you got gas, rent, utilties, phone etc girlfriend, kids, dog whatever else like car breaks down or needs new tires( shit happens that destroys br). Unless you live with your mom there is no money left over. So think you made 40k a year grinding hard to end up break even at the end of the year. You need to make double that around 80k a year so you have around 4k a month profit after tax so you can live some what comfortably. 32k goes to taxes that leaves you with 48k= 4k a month. So with tax you gotta make around 7k a month. If you can't do that get a day job so at least you get some decent benefits.

My buddy just got audited he didn't want to pay taxes got heavy fines and now owes a monthly fee to pay off all his tax he owes for poker for like last 3 years. He had to get a job and he was making aroound 80k-100k a year at poker, but then taxes and expensses come out and he don't have much left over. With that audit it screwed him big time and he can't play poker no more. Make sure you pay your taxes cause they will end your poker career fast if you don't the fines will pretty much destroy your br. So GL doing poker for a living.
