re: Poker & making a living
Honestly, online poker is more profitable than live play IF your bankroll is just around 30K US$ or less. Like rich said, that that 10K could disappear in a heartbeat.
Set you goals (i.e. how much you want to earn within a set timeframe) and incorporate other factors in your plan (such as living expenses)
If you stick to playing online, you see more hands and have more potential to make more as compared to live play. There are also no threats of physical harm (I've been carjacked, kidnapped and shot at, shortly after leaving a casino, by thugs who wanted to rob me - weird enough, it was the day i won more than 17K US$ from a local "high stakes" game. I was even in the news for it.
Live poker does have a lot of good aspects to it. Girls... Socializing, parties, etc. It's quite a lifestyle, just dont drown.
Plan it, double check. Then analyse it all over again before you make a decision.
