I don't usually bother with the WCOOP/FTOPS like events but I think this time I'm going to try and satty into a few.

Last night I played a 500FPP rebuy satty into the 750k NLHE $300 event. Only 38 people registered. A double buy when I sat down and the add-on for 1500FPP total. Paid 2 tickets and 500FPP for 3rd. I went out 4th. :( Some really bad players in that one, I was convinced I could take it down, but I think the 2 best players (both were gold stars I think) besides me won it, so I can't complain too much I guess. Will definitely try again.

Woot! 2nd time was a charm. Just turned 500FPP into a a ticket to WCOOP-21. $215 NLHE $1.5M Guarantee.

Here's to my shot at being a mirronair!

Or do I unregister for the $T? Can you even do that for WCOOP sattys?

You have to play the event, no T$ (atleast that was the warning on the one I just bought into). Yea, I'll probably play a few of these starting with the $5.50 (50 seats added) starting in about an hour.

The WCOOP tickets cannot be exchanged, sold or transferred in any way. If you do not wish to play for a WCOOP entry of the value stated in the tournament name, do NOT complete the registration process.

Thanks all!

Yeah, I'm definitely considering it. I just have $$$ in my eyes. But I look at the roster that already has a dozen PS Pros in it, and with an 18k max field, I just know it'll be a humongous field that I'll have very little chance to cash in. Still, part of me wants to take the shot. I guess I've got awhile yet to decide.

Since these FPP sattys were so soft, I'm probably going to play in some more anyway, and will unreg for the T$ in any others I win.

You have to play the event, no T$. Yea, I'll probably play a few of these starting with the $5.50 (50 seats added) starting in about an hour.

Not according to the WCOOP FAQ which I just checked. Promotional tickets cannot be cashed out for T$, but satty wins can. Unless it's different for FPP sattys, but it doesn't distinguish here.

The warning I got said that if I won a seat into a tourney that had already started, I would immediately be seated and could not unregister.

Can I then unregister from an event for which I've won a seat?

Yes. If you win a seat to a WCOOP event and then unregister from it, your account will be credited with T$ equal to the buy-in + fee of that event.
Unregistration will be available from the tournament lobby up until two minutes before the start of each event.
Note that this registration option applies to event seats won via satellite. Event tickets are not transferrable. Event tickets awarded via promotional tournaments must be used in that event or forfeited, as they have no value outside of the tournament to which they grant admission.

Maybe your satellite didn't have money added, and that's the difference? The overlay ones you have to play.

Yea, dont play the event. If you kept to your game and had just a slightly better than average run, you would cash big and look at all the problems that brings.

Having to haul around bags of cash.
Guys like me hitting you up for a stake.
Having to speak with boring financial guys to figure out how to make the $ work for you.

Soooo many problems could come of it.
:D

Not sure, it was an FPP buy-in with an FPP overlay, but I'm pretty sure the overlay was met. Also, I would think that would be pointed out in the FAQ about unregistering?

I was just about to email Stars support to clarify, and noticed this in my winner email from the satty:

PokerStars Tournament #302798374, No Limit Hold'em
Super Satellite
Buy-In: 500 FPP
61 players
Total Prize Pool: 30500 FPP
Target Tournament #2010090021
2 tickets to the target tournament

Tournament started 2010/08/20 22:08:00 ET

Dear dmorris68,

You finished the tournament in 1st place. You qualified to play in Tournament #2010090021 and are automatically registered for it. See Tournament #2010090021 Lobby for further details.

If you choose to unregister from this tournament your account will be credited with T-USD 215.00. Tournament US Dollars can be used to buy into any tournament. Visit our web site at http://www.pokerstars.com/poker/tournaments/ for more details.

Congratulations!

Thank you for participating.

Oh, that woud create a mountain of new problems. Like where to find the room to put all that stack of bills if you won.:) Dang if you do, dang if you don't.

Sounds like you received good news dmorris68. Congrats. Its always nice to be able to unregister from a tourney, just in case.

I'm sure you can get T$ for yours then, was just saying the "WCOOP Extreme Sat" with seats added, you have to play. I thought that's what the OP was advertising but I see now its just a regular sat with not enough entrants to cover the ticket (yet).

The extreme sats have guaranteed overlay, and lots of it.

I won a ticket to the $109 NLHE last year and am trying to do so again currently. The Extreme Satellites are a great deal. 25 to 50 seats added in each one.

I busted in 730th or so with 220 cashing.

I am really considering the $27 FO8 satty, that added money is making me salivate even though its over my BR.

I went out ~440 in that one, paid 218 (w/ 50 added) so almost 30% overlay, but the old 20-30-50-100 bb structure with 1500 starting stack and 10 min. blinds makes them almost turbo. Guess that's probably pretty normal for satellites, I've really only ever tried rebuy ones before.

Thats what I do for all the WCOOP for FTOPS events. If I'm on a heater I'll play a small ($11) buy-in if I satellite into it though.

I've been playing the extreme sattys. The add 25 or 50 seats to the prize pool.

I won T$320 sunday. I now just have to figure out what game(s) I'm going to play. Can't cash these one's out-must play.

Good luck all.

in the extreem sats u do have to play in the event u win for. and they are a good value, but they essentially only double your buy in. you pay ten bucks and its like u payed twenty. it is not quite as 'extreem' as stars might have u believe. i mean i know, who could ever have imagined they'd be manipulative in their tournament information...

I tried this out today. 71 registered top 3 get tickets. I finished #@(*$&#@ 4th when K7 beat my A8 all preflop. I won $20 but really would have liked that 200+15 ticket.
