i play on a mac laptop and it seems the only sites that have a mac download are PS and FTP. are there any others and are they any good? i feel as though i might be missing out on some decent freerolls or promotions.

UltimateBet and Absolute Poker have semi limited java clients for mac...

UB is alright (I havent tried AP) but I would stick with stars/FTP as they have the best support in place for mac and update regularly

Right, UB, AP, PS and FTP all have mac clients, which ain't bad. You can play on partypoker via the web option which actually is really nice.

In terms of software I suggest you monitor the PokerTracker 3 site as a free beta of that program is expected to be released in the next week.

Since the advent of hardware virtualization software, which I won't delve too much into the technical aspects of, "Virtual PC" software for the mac and other platforms has improved 1000-fold

I use VMWare Fusion on my MacBook Pro to run Windows Server 2008 RC2, and it works like a dream. I can run Windows programs alongside my Mac stuff without any hassles at all!

If you can afford it (it's only 100$, I got mine with a student discount), I'd just buy it.

You also need a copy of Windows to install, and probably ~25 gigs of free HDD space.

I run Full Tilt inside VMWare Fusion so I can use the HUD, but if you didnt want to use the HUD you could have PT3 import hands from your Mac partition

Nah, and you only need 5 gigs to run any version of windows smoothly.

When you open up VMWARE, and then start WINDOWS, your whole screen will be as if your MAC is Windows (or you can minimize).

Its a really neat program. :joyman:

Uhhhh, Windows itself needs more than 5 gigs of HDD space to install and have any sort of useable space.

Don't know which windows your using, but you can install Windows XP with 5 gigs, I use to run lots when I ran robots for games.

XP probably needs MINIMUM 2 gigs of install space -- so that leaves you 3 gigs for applications/swap file/temp space. Terrible idea.

Also, PokerTracker3 is now available for Mac!

Well if you install a full version of it sure, but who the heck would install the full version if your just using it for minor things? You can get one that is like 100MB.

Well I don't use it for just minor things. I do a lot of my research work/development on the road, so it's nice to have a copy of Visual Studio on my laptop, along with MS Flight Simulator X.

Those programs don't come Windows, so what is your point?

By minor, I meant the stuff Windows comes with. Unless you use all the extra crap Windows comes with, then you don't need to install the larger one.

Plus he has a MAC and just wants to run Windows to play one poker App, makes no sense either way.

My point is, 5 gigs is really cutting yourself short. End of story.

And my point is, not at all. He just wants something to run poker applications.

Ive got a stripped down version of XP. I use it to run dos app's on an old Dell P1 with....wait for it ..... 128K RAM and a 10 gig hard drive :p.

The install is aprox 160 Meg and the windows still runs fine. The big question is if OP has the hard drive space isnt it?

You can play on bodog instant play. All you need is an internet connection, though the traffic and game selection is no where near FT or Stars.

I thought PP isn't accepting US players.

Thanks for the heads up, I'll check it out. Been using Poker Co-Pilot for a while and I've been very pleased so far at how well it works and how easy it was to set up.

I used PT2 on a PC a few years back... anyone got a review on PT3 mac yet? Particularly as compared with Co-Pilot would be nice.

PT3 for Mac is light years ahead of Poker CoPilot. Grab the 60 day trial and see how you like it!

I use the MAC book Pro as well and I use Poker Copilot as my HUD. It was designed specifically for MAC users only. I own PT3 and HM for my other systems in the house but I prefer Poker Copilot.

Its like 60 bucks after the 30 day trial.
