Losing money during a break from Poker.

A while ago I decided to take a break from poker. I decided to play freerolls only with a few exceptions.

Some sites have rules and if you are not active they will take your VIP points and even your money.

I withdrew my money from the sites I could; so I did not lose much there. But on the VIP side I lost a lot of value.

I'm still on a break and my passion for the game has not returned yet. Losing value is not helping me making a comeback either.

First, what sites are taking your money? That is hugely suspect. Even losing the VIP points is somewhat shady.

Nevertheless, if the passion to play isn't there, there isn't much you can do.

If the games is a just hobby, no point in trying to force yourself to play.

william hill, Titan Poker and PKR to name a few.

Even pokerstars has it in their Terms and Conditions I think.

And I'm not counting the sites that just closed their operations for good.

Poker is a hobby for me; but it still provides me with a little pocket money. So even if I don't have the passion anymore, I still play some Freerolls and sometimes real money games that seems +EV.

PS reward program is abusive, I agree. If you don't maintain a certain level of play then you lose "status", gold to silver, or silver to chrome, or whatever. But that's in the terms and conditions, and starcoins or whatever should be considered a bonus. If you only play freerolls and the site makes no money off of your bets and rakes, why should you expect player rewards? The site doesn't care how much time you spend there, only how much money you put on the table.

I'm not trying to be unsympathetic, but you really sound like you're complaining that the site "owes you" for the time and money you used to spend there, when you're now just doing freerolls. Or am I missing something?

I'm not talking about the reward status but about the points that I have in my account on different sites that disappear if I stay inactive for too long.

Most if not all sites have in their T and C that they can take some fees for inactive accounts. They can take the VIP points and some monthly fees for inactive accounts.

So while taking a break it is a good idea to play a couple of real money hands every now and then to avoid this situation.

I've played at Titan for many years but for the last few years I only play the CC monthly game there and sometimes I don't play that game for many months and I have never lost anything.

Look into it.

I've never heard anything about "inactive fees". In fact, I had an account on Full Tilt some years ago and forgot that I had a few bucks in my account. I went back 3 years later to receive a transfer from a friend who couldn't cash out from his country, and my cash was still there.

Yes, on PS the bonus status drops month to month if you don't keep it up. But I've never heard of any fees or penalties for inactivity.

About VIP I believe. You need to maintain the activity. But the fact that take away money from the account - this is complete nonsense.

Yeah, I think that's complete nonsense to bar a players funds due to inactivity. Id even say taking away VIP/Reward points is garbage. You've earned those points rightfully.

don't upset too much for that, the important thing is play and have fun, if you are not capable of that, the best is what you are doing, take a break doesn't matter how long it take and you will come back better than before

I hope Gorak you find again the passion for the game :)
Enjoy , till then , the freeroll games here on CC with us :)

I once received an email from stars saying that because I was incactive in 2015 (inactive=not having 0.01VPP at least I think) I would lose my FPP , later they said they made a mistake .

I searched for pokerstars , but the only thing I found was this , which was in greek , pokerstars.gr , I used google translator , it's 11.8 paragraph from https://www.pokerstars.gr/poker/room/tos/ , but I guess it might apply to everyone , not just greek players :

11.8 a User Account with positive balance remains dormant or inactive free transactions in the Account for a continuous period exceeding 30 months, we will try to get in touch with you in order to refund the rest. In the event that this is not possible, the remaining balance within that account shall be remitted to the Malta Gaming Authority (MGA).

Usually if you want to keep your VIP-Points, you have to play a specific number of matches on a yearly basis.

So you just have to keep a few dollars in your account and play a few matches in a year to keep your points. That should be manageable :)
