Hi guys

I just want to hear about other people's experinece with losing internet connection while playing.

I just played 4 tables on Party and while im in a couple of hands I lose connection and get kicked out of all 4 tables. It has happened before and ofcourse it is always just as I have a good hand and have money on the table and I just lose them. I immediatly checked my internet and opened my homepage no problem but PP said it was not at their end the problem was.

Is this a more common problem with certain sites compared to others or does it happen from time to time on all sites?

For sng players its worst case, for cash players not. Have a internet stick as a "plan B" !

That depends.

If you're in a $100 pot and time out. I'd find this more frustrating, than say..losing a hand you're involved in a SnG.

I also have a internet pen but find by the time you realise you have disconnected, stuck the pen in, waited for it too disconnect - you end up missing the hand anyway :p Pens are very god though, if you're in a grind and your connection does day, you can get up and running within a few minutes minus a few hands which isn't usually a huge issue!

Having said all that though, I'm currently stuck on just a dongle at the minute anyway with no "fixed" net :(

OP:

I've experienced it myself, just something you have to accept as part of the parcel and something even more frustrating when you get a good hand/pot and end up disconnecting.

My connection is very good generally but I have neighbours with an unsecured internet connection so even if mine does go down I jsut use their internet as backup.

My frustration was that my internet was fine. I immediatly checked my internet and opened my usual home page without a problem. I had problems opening and navigating around the poker site all evening, but they say they did not have a problem at their end

A few times I have lost connection while playing SNGO's and I have emailed customer support and I would say 90% of the times the refund my buy in. If you do get disconnected always try and make a note of the tourney number. Not sure how it works on cash games or MTT's but with SNGO's it does and it has got to be worth a try?

I could understand the full buyin refund if the whole sng game got disconnected, all players disconnected. But if you are the sole one disconnected and the game continues on they still refunded your full buyin/.?

And what site was this...?

I’m going to tell you something.
Several times I have been attacked and my internet not available suddenly after a big hand and well on my way to the money.
I believe there is a hacker able to do this but have no proof except it happens on lots of different poker sites

Not Good

It always seems to happen to me when I really need to chip up. By the time I get my connection back, I am out of chips.

Disconnect

Constant disconnection is one of the many reasons I stopped playing at Bovada. It's been months since I played there so I'm going to give it another try to see if they've fixed at least some of the problems with their new software, but from what I'm reading online, I'm not hopeful.

years ago they use to knock out the ip address, similar stuff now....never see all these fascinating variations of timely disconnections anywhere on the net except online poker it would seem.I am currently experiencing a very rare break from timely disconnections and have had many deep runs and final tables so i expect the disconnections will kick back in soon to claim back the tidy little bankroll ive built lol lol,oh well we shall see ,its just part of the contest to me now im so use to seeing all the tricks do their rotations after 8 or so years online.Fingers crossed my discon free stretch laasts a few more wins...gl gl.

Yes i agree 100%,and its so often from the blinds at top end of tournaments with no discon for the hours leading up to it.One good one lately, was card dead for well over an hour...then i get AA in the big blind and disconnected haha lol good fun aye lol.gl gl.never give up,but give little i feel is the best aproach to online depositing,or build from scratch quite often.Play with their money then hehe.

My connection is bad too, on all sites. I have called my internet provider several times too. They tell me my internet is good, I talk to them nicely so they sent out a Tech to my place out. They found nothing wrong , but they asked how many items are using my wifi . Told them and they said that is the problem. so I have everyone on schedule until they bring me that extremely high end modem that I ordered so everyone can use at the same time.

In your case if it is only with PP, close the software and open it again so that it does not happen to you. It happened to me and if I don't close it and open it again it doesn't work normally.

I have never had any connectivity issues at Party poker, I have a misfortune today due to heavy rain and I lost a place that I was leading in 888 poker, but that was an eventuality

Hi, the ALL! I think practically everybody faced with this problem... Here 2 reasons: problems with your provider, or problem with
the poker sites themselves. In the first occasion, if became get often, better change provider, or have reserve line internet. In the accidents with the poker sites need only patience, and relate by this philosophy... Or how in the occasion with provider, I think better to finish play on this site, and switch on the others.

The main issue here is with our internet providers, but some poker sites have software, that handle short disconnections much better than others. On PokerStars the poker client is often able to reconnect to the server, before your hand is folded, so that the loss in internet connection is only a minor inconvenience.

On 888 Poker however the poker client usually freeze and require a complete restart, before you can get back in the game. I have experienced this on two different computers, and other users have reported the same, so it definitely seem to be a general problem.

Its obviously not ideal, so especially if you are a mid or high stakes player, you might want to either have a really good internet connection to play on 888, or play on a site like Stars, where the poker client handle disconnections better.

In most cases, the problem is at your end, if you can’t prove it on theirs, if many people have suffered, they usually compensate in the main tournament players.

I have not had a chance that a loss of connection was associated with a poker site. The player’s provider is usually to blame. There are a lot of servers through which there is a connection with a poker site. Very rarely, the site is to blame for the loss of communication. And if this happens then a lot of players lose their connection.
