Hey folks.

If I were looking to make a substantial deposit - but already had accounts with FT and PS - which site would you recommend I try for the purposes of clearing a first deposit bonus?

EDIT: It's kinda important that I mention I'm in the US, I guess. Forgot about that. ;)

iPoker is meant to be pretty good, and I know you can get some very good rakeback deals if you hunt around.

I'd be interested in knowing the answer too :)

i-poker = non-usa :(

try cake or a merge site
both decent bonus and decent size.

PTR has issued an advisory regarding a security flaw at cake fwiw, check out the advisory before depositing there imo. I've not heard negative things in the past about cake, but I've never paid much attention to them either.

Things to consider assuming you do not already have an account at this proposed 3rd site.

1 Can you get a rakeback deal by signing up via a rakeback site.
2 How has the site shown to be regarding withdrawals. Important if it takes 3 months to collect.
3 How is the support.

If I were gonna deposit a substantial amount these days, I would think Bodog for the support, Carbon for the competition.

I still have money at UB, and the support and payouts are good there. It's some of the other creature comforts that keep me from recommending them. Others will site security problems.

I signed up everywhere long before I knew about rakeback, so I'm screwed there. Others may fill in some blanks.

Doyle's Room might not be a bad idea. As part of the Cake network it suffers some of those issues, but each sites support is handled by each site, not the network. So far I've seen no untoward threads slamming DR. If I were a betting man, I'd bet of all the lesser sites, DR stands the best chance of future success.

Again, I can not offer rakeback info.

Then consider Victory Poker, 40% rakeback, live support, and if you don't want to signup through any affiliate they can also implement the rakeback deal directly on exsisting accounts, just ask live support for that.

Anything with volume lower than the Bodog is unplayable IMO.

I personally like Bodog, and their customer service is tops, both by email and phone.
Their cash tables and 1 table sngs are like taking candy from a baby.
However if you like mtt's they can take hours to fill. (which is fine with me I hate mtt's)

In the past there's been a long wait to cash out from Bodog. Not sure if it's still the case, but a check I requested from them a year or so ago took about 8 weeks if I recall correctly.

I know lots of folks here hate Absolute (totally justified with the security issues etc.) but cashouts are quick there. I got a check from them this month and it took a week or a little less. Rakeback is 30% and there's a sizeable player pool.

Dunno about deposit bonuses.

i saw ultimate bet in there somewhere. lolol. good1, i think i just saw a tumbleweed go by on their login screen or homepage. lol.

ub= nooo way. u can get nearly all of ubs game at ft or pstars. if u play at the middle/higher stakes - the ppl ull end up playing at ub really play more at ft and pstars- so ur really playing the same ppl but just at a different site.

i wouldnt recommend ub/absolute poker to my worst enemies. oh, did mikey or prahlad get all their money back from russ hamilton yet? lol

bodog payouts are about 1 week now...and they have a nice first dep bonus...and beginner sngs that are the best format for bonus clearing.

ub/absolute -the bonus is tougher to clear but there are more games than bodog and they have the bad beat jackpot...also they have reload bonuses all the time...the play is softer than ft/ps ....and they still all access visa gift cards

if i were you i'd go with bodog and clear the bonus and then go to ub

I have cashed out twice in the past two months from Bodog and received a check within 3-4 days. (Just won a little over a grand in one of their MTTs :D so I'll be cashing out again in August).

I'm not sure what you mean when you say their MTTs take hours to fill up. They start at specific times and begin immediately. They have taken the same route as pokerstars however and left late registration open for an hour. The multi table sit and goes fill up much more slowly but if you play at a peak time you should be able to get a game.

The only downside of Bodog is you can only play up to 4 tables.

Yeah, I know the links are there. Sometimes I just like to get feedback from the actual players at the table rather than some marketing links, that's all.

I agree 100% with this assesment.
Support-Awesome
Cash game players and 1 tablers-Tasty
MTT's-Sign up tonight, and it might be ready to blast off when you wake up in the morning.
And I might add, the software is user friendly to me and I like it.
2 nice freerolls a day, too. Used to be 3.

I would recommend Merge.
They are getting much bigger, as a Network, and you can get minimum 35 rakeback.

Just be aware that you are only allowed to have one account on Merge that gives rakeback so choose carefully.

so... has anybody ever played ClubWPT... It's a monthly subscription of 19.99 a month or pay by the year....

Anyways I used to play there but It just dosnt feel right... Playing for tournament points then using those to play in the SMALL money tourneys.

Plus they tryed to charge me a monthly fee after a 2 week free tril... I had cancelled when I was supposed to and a month went by with no charge then the next month they charged me... Overdrafted my bank to almost $80 but I filled an unauthorized charge and showed them guys hahahaa.

They give you 35% rakeback and the competition is softer than PS or FT, and at least for me, the frequency of bad beats has been less (whether I was just running bad at FT, I dunno). You won't get credit for points unless you contributed to a pot.

BUT, Carbon offers you a max of 14 freerolls. For me, the field was only around 160 for each payroll. I managed to play in 9 of them and got to the final table 3x, winning $70. I've won $90+ in cash games at 4NL. I don't even play all that many hands per day, so it's a function of worse competition.

I think this makes up for the relative difficulty in clearing bonus.

Sorry, what I meant to write is the following. (I dunno what happened... I copy and pasted from Word in the previous reply.)
