I was a long time Full Tilt player who also messed with poker stars, neither of those work now. I have been spending hours wading through a bunch of old/crap information and sponsored/virus laden sites trying to find a good poker site, so now I'm turning to you folks.

This is what I'm looking for:
1) Free Play Money option (I'm not interested in real money poker right now)
2) Mac Compatible (Download or Web-based, either way)
3) USA Allowed (I hate gov't busybodies)

I tried signing up for Carbon Poker today and they are not taking new US registrants.
Full Tilt is gone.
party poker's online game crashes on my machine.
Most of the other sites I see are not taking USA Players or do not support Mac.

Anybody know where I can go?

I don't want to play some stupid facebook online crap that gives away thousands of random chips a day and where you are playing with a bunch of idiots on their Blackberry who don't know what the hell they are doing.

suggestions for play money sites

I play at bodog because I got lucky and won a freeroll ;-) I'm not sure what they have for play money though?? If you do start an account there, make sure to use the Cardchat link :)

RISE Poker just started here in the US and it is all play money, with a chance to win cash prizes if you place on a weekly leaderboard or win a sponsored tournament...you may want to consider this, but I will warn you, the advertising on the site will make you want to fall on a cactus...

Honestly, I think that the poker experience you are looking for may require you to start playing for cold, hard cash. I say this because it looks like you want more competitive play, which you will not find on Facebook. **** gets real once you start putting real money on the line, even when its only a few bucks.

Hope this helps,
David

I'll bump this thread. I'm also looking for a mac friendly place that accepts US players for play money.

I do have a vmware fusion install of windows XP - so I could theoretically play using that. but it's not my preference.

Palmer...

Thanks for the advice, but it wasn't helpful. Neither Bodog or Rise make a Mac Client. I agree you get better players with real money, but, especially in the current law enforcement environment, I have no desire to have some gambling site steal all my money and give it to their lawyers and the government.

I have been playing at Carbon Poker and recently I was on the final table in 4th place with only 7 players left out of 100+. All of a sudden one of there windows popped up and informed me I was no longer connected. My internet worked great as I checked other programs running. The site eventually blinded me out in 6th place as I couldnt do anything. I then had to do a hard shutdown to get the main screen of my comupter. I have spoke to other players who have also had to do a hard shutdown. Does anyone have any comments on Carbon Poker??? I am also from canada if that has anything to do with it ( the american players seemed to be doing fine)???

Any new developments on this front in the past several months? I am also an old FTP Mac fan looking for a new home. Tried a few play money games with CarbonPoker and it worked well, but lags FTP in refinement.
