Has anyone visited any central London casinos? Which ones - and what are they like?

Maybe a strange question but are they "seedy" at all or are they somewhere that a female could happily visit alone?

Any info appreciated. Thanks!

For some reason this thought popped in to my mind earlier today.

Why do casinos have the association of seediness?

They are probably the safest place you could be.
With all the money lying around, they really have to have the best security.

Older casinos can often appear dark and dingy and full of old men.
The modern casino groups are usually bright and sparkly in an attempt to take the affluent young and female dollars as well.

Probably the Casino at the Empire in Leicester Square would suit you for starters.

When I was there the WSOPE was being played so it probably had a different atmosphere than normal, but it had a very mixed crowd and was more like a regular busy modern bar, with casino games on the fringes for anyone interested in those sort of things.

Yes am feeling very tempted to try my new skillz out live. :) I'm very good at reading people so think this could be a strength that would help my game.

(Don't you ever sleep Alfie? What are you doing up at 5am???)

Thanks Chemist. I've seen the one at Leicester Square and it does look like a regular club. And its location probably means it attracts a touristy crowd too so might be a good choice. I will be very nervous though. Thanks for the tips.

Fox poker club behind the empire, like in the china town sort of area is the only one I've been too, its pretty cool, and there were a few women in there when I was there (although that part of my day is very foggy due to many free peronis courtesy of pokerstars)

Also, I follow a female poker player on twitter, baltic blonde?? And she tweets about being in there all the time.

Just found her blog and a post about fox actually :)

Oh Alfie - you make me blush!

Haven't decided yet whether to play tourneys or cash. Guess it depends on what sort of buy-ins they have. I get the impression that the buy-ins are much higher live so I'd have to be really careful with my BRM.
