Last night at around quarter to 12 I decided to play a SNG just for fun--no multi-tabling, or anything serious. Logged into Lock and chose a $2 DON. The game filled up pretty quickly; the table opened and the first hand was dealt. Then nothing. I sat there for a while missing pokerstars where you could easily check network status.

Everything was frozen so I thought I'd log out and then see if I could get in again. Went to close the tourney and an error box appeared stating "This program cannot be closed because it is locked in the system". Did the ctrl/alt/del drill and could not end the task, but did discover that Lock was not responding.

I fianlly resorted to shutting down my computer and rebooting which blessedly did the trick. Has this happened to anyone else? Does anyone know what to do when that message appears other than reboot?

Thanks, frankace! Do you know why or how Lock would get locked in the system?

Never had this wilth Lock and I've played there almost exclusively for 4 months now. But like any other software, it can crash. Killing it via Task Manager is standard when that happens, as it is with any software that hangs. I'll have to admit the verbiage of that error message is strange. "Locked in the system" is not normal lock up lingo.

Merge clients are written in Java and use an exe wrapper runtime to prevent hacking, so maybe the error message is being generated from that.

I knew I should have taken a screenshot, but didn't. If it ever happens again, I sure will.

After I did the ctrl/alt/del drill, the 3 lock screens I had open (lobby, tourney lobby and game) showed as "Not Responding" and then there was a fourth showing only as "Running" under Applications in the Task Manager. Maybe that was referring to the exe wrapper? Shoulda taken a screenie of that too...

Don't bother with the Applications tab, go to Processes tab and kill the client.exe process from there.

Thanks, d, as always. Btw, logged in to Lock tonight just fine--hopefully what happened was just a fluke.
