I'll have the good fortune of being in switzerland this spring with my wife for her job. Which means, I'll have a bunch of time during the day to play poker......or go hiking. I should probably go hiking....but, let's be honest.

We'll be near the Zurich area. Does anyone have any recommendations? Are the card rooms like the ones in the US? Dress code? Buy in? Etc?

Any help is appreciated.

Hey!

Signed up just for you!

Well it looks like you picked just the right time for some Pokeraction in Switzerland!

I don't know what your Buy-In Level is and if you're gonna be here for this, but this Weekend on the 5th of April is a 1'600 CHF (High Limit Tourney) going on in Grand Casino Baden.
Infos here:
http://www.grandcasinobaden.ch/spiele/poker/swiss-poker-champions-week/

Then after that from 17.04-21.04, there's gonna be a Oster Pokerturnier (Spring Tourney) in Casino Schaffhausen with a Buy-in of 400 CHF + 40 CHF.
with sattelites around a week earlier.
Infos here:
http://www.swisscasinos.ch/scsh-poker/articles/oster-pokerturnier.html

And shortly after that will be the 7th Poker Circle Swiss Open 2014 with a Buy-in of CHF 600.-- plus CHF 80.- with additional smaller 300.- and 200.- Side Events, which will be going on from 31.04-01.05 in the Grand Casino Luzern. I haven't been myself yet but it supposed to be like the best Tourney Festival in Switzerland. At least it's the closest to a Festival in Switzerland...
Infos here:
http://www.grandcasinoluzern.ch/casino-poker-pokercircleswissopen.php

All 3 of the above Tourneys aren't to far away if you're based in Zürich. All the Info's are in the Links above, however i didn't see an option to set the pages to english, but I'm sure you'll figure out what you need to know!
Below is one more link with all Tourneys going on everyday throughout Switzerland! (again not in english, even though the site is named in english, sorry about that)

THANK YOU! I will use this info for when we go. Turns out we're not going until May now but we are booked and ready to fly. What do you know about these casinos? In other words, dress code, etc. I know some can get kind of "uppity". Thank you again!!!

Actually I havent been to any of those casinos, so I can't say. I know that in Bern you cant wear Caps, so I believe you generally gotta forget about wearing them. Although in Zürich your allowed to wear them as soon as your in the poker area, so i'm not sure. You'll definitely be able to wear casual clothes. Dont think there are any Casinos with like suit requirements or anything like that...
