home game, cash game, no limit holdem, we buy a 1000 chips for a fiver, so it's very loose and nobody is gonna fall out over winning or losing a few buy-ins

this happened, it wasn't even questioned at the time, but afterwards i wondered if all was not right

i was dealt KK UTG, put out a 200 bet

got 3 callers round the table, then the BB raised all-in to 260

so, i re-raised all-in for about 2000

my question: was this a legal bet? had the BB's raise of 60 re-opened the betting to allow me to re-raise all-in?

Nope unless it's a full raise you can only call, so your reraise was illegal and you will probably go to prison. ;)

Only caveat is that if someone had yet to your raise then they could reraise.

By someone behind you raising allin, it should reopen the pot to the resy of the players still in the hand. Seems legit to me. Tell the poker polive-IT'S RIGGED. They will understand.

Ok here is the rule. To re-open the betting it has to be a valid raise, ie raise to 400 would be valid, raising to 300 DOES NOT open the betting, you can just call.

From Roberts Rules of Poker for Home Games:

All raises must be equal to or greater than the size of the previous bet or raise on that betting round, except for an all-in wager. A player who has already checked or called may not subsequently raise an all-in bet that is less than the full size of the last bet or raise. (The half-the-size rule for reopening the betting is for limit poker only.)

OK..this happened on BLODOG, on cash table...dont remember exact wagers but will approximate..

CO limps for .25, me (daxter70) on button limps with 55, SB completes and BB raises his 1.35 all...

CO calls, then my only options are CALL the extra 1.10, or FOLD, so i CALL....

the SB then goes ALLIN FOR $22.00....CO then calls..so my 5s are beat and i fold.....

FLOP is 35J, turn J, river 10......
BB 77
CO AA
SB AK...then best hand in poker to push $22.00

suffice to say i was pissed, but how and why was the SB given the option of allin vs just the call that myself and the CO were given??

he just able to call..i got a monster pot coming to me....???

any reasonings or guidelines or rules interpt would be welcome.. TY

what irexes, tenbob, and aliengeniuses said.

You should read the column by Jack McC in Card Player -- he covers situations like this. Very informative.

Yep, this same situation came up in a game I was playing recently. The floor manager ruled that the original raiser could not reraise after the less than full all-in reraise.

Maybe the wagers arent right on the money...but CO and myself were only given the options to CALL...and SB was able to push after our calls...that was the point..not the wagers.....ANY HELP???
