Hey guys,

My casino runs a NL $80 max table. The blinds are $1/2 and there is a $5 charge per hour. The rake is capped at a maximum of $8 but set at around ~7%.

Surely I'm being robbed blind here.

Gettin robbed without a doubt there, Schatz.

Aren't casinos 'supposed' to either charge an hourly seat charge or a rake?

%7 is also too high, and the max buyin is ridiculous. Looks like they're pretty much trying to generate big pots PF and rake in a huge kitty on top of their hourly rate...

I wouldn't play there.

Yeah, I think you're spot on there.

On some tables they have an hourly charge/no rake policy and on others they have both. It's basically just a badly run casino. All I need is $5 zillion for a licence and I could open up some competition.

that sounds very very similiar to the crown here in melbourne australia, there are various limit tables but on the 1/2 ones the rake 10% up to $6 and there is also a $5 hourly charge. Now only when you get to the higher limits so say 10/20 do they stop charging an hourly fee, and the rake gets capped at $5. So

yeah, I played at Crown earlier this year and thought it was pretty expensive. Strangely enough the guy who was two to my right at my table at the Crown casino (a month ago) sat two to my left last night at Star City. I went along to see how the game played and after watching the worst poker in my life decided I could beat the costs and sat down for two hours. I did alright and basically doubled through for the night but the play was just atrocious. All-in river calls with a busted draw and 3rd pair, guys limp calling pocket aces down to the river with drawy boards etc,etc...

Ouch - I knew Crown took an hourly fee, I didn't know they took rake as well though. Only played tournaments there, not cash games.

Maybe if they had some competition they wouldn't be able to get away with it
