Not true. Maybe on other sites, but not Cereus. From this page [old link~tb]
In order to qualify for the remainder of the Bad Beat Jackpot that is divided among eligible players, you must satisfy the following conditions:
- You must be playing at a Jackpot or Turbo Jackpot table
- You must be playing at the same game type and stakes level where the Jackpot was hit
- You must have played in at least one hand, in your current session at the table, where a Jackpot rake was collected and you must have contributed to that pot
- You must be sitting in when the Bad Beat occurs
I can attest that I've been playing at different levels (but still at a jackpot table) when the BBJ hit and didn't get paid, but I did get paid when it hit at the same limit I was playing.
