I am returning to online poker after a few years away and am looking at my options for playing here in America. The difference this time around is that I rarely use anything other than a PC running linux Mint to access the Internet. I tried ClubWPT several months back through firefox and it was nearly unplayable. I was using the built in graphics on a low end Sandy Bridge CPU at the time but I still have a hard time accepting that was the reason for the slow response times and out of sync audio. Now I have a Geforce GT 720 installed so I shouldn't have an issue with most sites.

So I guess it comes down to what are my options? Do I stick with browser based sites or try to figure out which ones will work through Wine?

I run Ubutnu/Kubuntu 14.04 LTS, and the only way to play is using Virtualbox and Windows 7. Just need 8GB+ RAM....

Yeah essentially web based sites should be fine, generally never going to function as well as a downloaded client though, which there arn't any available for linus so using a virtual environment is essentially going to be the only way to go......something I have been meaning to setup on my own desktop but just havn't gotten around to it.

Virtualbox is nice though, at least the windows version as havn't used it on linux yet.

Trancefan,

I play at NLOP. Similar in concept to ClubWPT, but no monthly fee required. There are ads, BUT, there are ways around them. (Eliminating the ads REALLY speeds up the response time!)
