Anyone thinking of playing at a site called Poker world better think again, you guys will love this, lets say you build up a some dollars on a free roll, ok cool so far, then you decide you want to make a deposit, well guess what they do, they right away freeze your entire account, then they want you to send them your gov. ID and a scanned copy of the front and back of your credit card, "can someone say identity theft" at any rate I was reading about alot of pisssed off players that first you make a deposit then you dont even get to play a hand, my point is if you have to go through this much trouble, you can just imagine what it must be like to try and cash out, no other poker site asks for this info just to make a deposit, so be wary they are a borderline a scam site.

Hey look at that, my 200th post.

I have also heard of many players having the same problem at Poker World. I wonder if the site even understands what they are asking their members to expose themselves to? There must be (there are) other ways to verify identities of members without such risk to identity theft. Just my opinion, but they seem to be alienating a lot of poker players who want deposit at their site; seems very stupid to me.

Thanks for the heads up, can't say I've heard of them but it's good to know in case I run into a "New Poker Site" and start a "New Account" and deposit "real money" only to be "Shut Down" by some illegal act selling my SSN to an illegal claiming to be me in 10 years.

I hear this is rampant on Railbirds.com - they announced their new "affiliation" a month or 2 ago and everyone that tried to deposit there is being asked to scan BOTH sides of their credit card along with gov't issued ID etc. and in most cases their accounts are frozen. It makes for an interesting read over there.

Poker World is the same network/client as Players Only. Railbirds started with Players Only a couple months ago, and I got $20 in there from a few of their freerolls. How or why they decided to team up with Poker World is a mystery, but to be fair, I haven't bothered to wade through their endless blogs of nonsense to find out. I do know you can't transfer one accts $$ to the other.

That credit card copy is pretty crazy. You are not even sending it through a secure server (https) if you have to email it to them, right? It's not encrypted. NO legitimate online business these days will ask for that. And you know what they get from the back of your credit card? It's not your signature. It's that 3 digit code right above it (after the last 4 digits of your CC #). Anyone with your name and address (as you enter on your poker site acct) can use that credit card absolutely anywhere online. What's to stop any employee there from waiting until he/she gets home and using it to fund FT or PS or bodog accts?

Losing more respect for Railbirds each day. With so many other choices, I don't know why they choose to associate themselves with these creepy little nickel & dime sites, and subject their member to risk or possible scams.

Go there (to Poker World) now and click under private toruneys. They have 3 period - all RBs.
