...now that pokerstars is getting close to allowing real money play in the states again?
Since I've stopped playing I've had the time to do research, learn strategies for low/micro stakes play, identify some of my bad habits and mistakes and work on correcting them. I'm intending to simply play very tight ABC poker, playing passively and avoiding early, marginal confrontations until I'm in the money (only getting more aggressive once I've secured my ROI in the hopes of getting a big stack to go deep), and staying away from turbos to cut down on variance. I also intend to use some sort of profiling software this time around to help me make better decisions (looking at PFR, AF, VPIP, etc). I would be starting at the $1 stakes or so on a $50 deposit.
I refuse to play at places like Carbon anymore, however, because their business dealings are very shady (being that they are off shore) and I've heard notorious reports that they take exceptionally long periods to pay out their winners. I lost $20 there so I'm not concerned about it, but I'm not sure about where else to play at now. It would have to be a site that is trustworthy and actually has a lot of activity at the micro stakes.
PokerStars is supposedly going to have real money play again in the states very soon with NV and NJ, and from what I understand California, my state, is very strongly considering online poker regulation and bringing PokerStars into its territory.
So, are there any online poker sites at the moment that both accept US players and are worth playing at (no Carbon poker or any affiliated site) and has a lot of activity at the micro stakes (particularly in MTT's and SnG's)? Or am I better off just waiting until PokerStars allows real money play in the states again? Because it doesn't seem like it's too far off in the future from happening.
